Thirty years without a Canadian team winning the Cup is not a coincidence. We're forced to overpay to get players to come play here in the cold. I don't blame Tkachuk, make the same money or more to live in the sun and be able to go grocery shopping without being recognized and bugged for an autograph.
Yeah, it really sucks. I am starting to get 1990s vibes when we lost big name players all the time. This season, it was Gaudreau and Tkachuk, next season it is likely going to be Backlund and Lindholm. You could argue that Fox is part of that too. It's not quite the same as MacInnis, Roberts, Gilmour, Nieuwendyk, Suter, and Otto; but it feels kind of the similar.

The cap has made it at least possible to overpay for free agents, but that isn't a way to build a winner.

My interest and passion faded long ago. This year I attended zero games and watched none from start to finish. I would catch a period or two here and there, but would eventually flip channels.

For me it’s a combination of being a new parent (no time), cheering for a perpetual mediocre/####ty team for what seems like my entire life, lack of interest in the game as a whole these days (no passion anymore from the players), and most importantly, my jaded perception of pro sports as a whole.

I can no longer stomach and support the direction pro sports is going in terms of politics and the sheer amount of money being paid to players, coaches, and owners. There is a real problem with society when no one blinks an eye at the godly amount of money athletes are making, yet I can’t even afford to take my family to see a game any longer without it costing a days salary. Quite frankly I don’t care about sports anymore and will not spend any money to any league other than the CFL (I feel sorry for those guys, they deserve a little more).

Find some consistency with the reffing, establish a standard with the goal review calls (or more transparency), and put away the whistles in the playoffs and treat the playoffs the way they have been for decades and maybe my interest will rebound a little.

The ever-changing rules and special standards for specific players who clearly embellish makes me hate this league a little more every time that janky, eyebrow raising #### happens.

The Flames have to figure their own #### out, I'm not going to play the sympathy card for them. But I'd really like the way the games are run to give them an equal shot as every other club.

I can count several instances this season where points were shaved off the Flames because of poor decisions by officials or reviewers. Those add up over the course of a year.

Meanwhile the dufus up north cartwheels from a gaudreau hit and gets a auto-PP. That BS needs to stop.
