I think Mackinnon's ice time is being blow out of proportion. This season (he played all 82 games) he averaged 22:05 a night. Tonight after 60 minutes he was at about 24:00. Not that much different.
The point is, he's used to playing big minutes. So I wouldn't count on him slowing down.
Whoever said this would be a sweep for the Flames was sorely mistaken. Colorado heading home and with the momentum. This could go 6 or even 7.

Man some of you guys have thin skin. Can't even handle one OT loss... No one has gone 16-0.
Was one hell of a snipe by MacKinnon. Credit where it's due. On to the next one!

ok
1) lindholm was back with that line in OT after a brief relocation
2) ugh can we please put this monahan narrative to bed? he may go down in flames lore as a top-3 goal-scorer in team history. pls
3) ok now I agree w you

Great game by the Avalanche. Really controlled the game from start to finish. Flames were lucky to be in this one. We are in a series now. On to Colorado.

Janko and Neal have both been terrible. I think you have to move Bennett to a different line. And then give the fourth line - consisting of Janko-Neal-Frolik 5-7 minutes per game.

Bah. Played terrible and it still took overtime and a hell of a shot to beat us. Not overly worried about it.

No doubt. I'm not so much concerned about the result. I'm concerned that the Avs have carried play for 2 games, on the road, being the worst team of all playoff teams.
Since everybody likes to look up a persons post history, you can see my comments after game 1.
I really admire peoples faith in the team, but I don't know how anybody can watch them play in crunch time and have any faith this team can win the cup.

Monahan is not in the same planet as MacKinnon. Name a worse #1 C on a playoff team this year.

I strongly disagree that the Avs carried the play in game one. Smith made some great saves but 5 on 5 it wasn’t even close. Calgary dominated them in just about every facet of the game.

i liked the bennett/gaudreau/monahan, tkachuk/backlund/lindholm, neal/jankowski/frolik combinations that gave us the lead in the third. but peters went back to the old lines after we got the lead and in ot.
hopefully he realizes the obvious and unleashes bennett, ryan, and mangiane in terms of ice time. they've been huge positives

Agreed. They refuse to make things easy on themselves by taking advantage of Mike Smith putting up a wall for them. The guy pried open the jaws of defeat for most of the game and they let the avs keep skating around them, even after two intermission breaks which was frankly stunning..
They dont take the easy road, but usually end up pulling through in the end when it matters most, whether it's the third period or going on a run and taking out SJ in their barn to seal the west.
They know they have what it takes to win. Just gotta dig in.

PS McKinnon is such a stud. What a player wow.

What are some of you people talking about saying they played an iffy 1st game? Flames played a pretty damn good game the first one. Avs threw everything they had at the Flames in the second game and won in OT by needing to tie the game late.
Like some people here need to be less bipolar. Geez. It's like a yo yo of emotions.
