One thing that was better as a kid is definitely the innocence. Not knowing how hard life is and not (at least me) having to deal with personal loss and just enjoying life on a day to day basis. That's what i miss the most about being a kid.
That and Lik-M-Aid.

I was thinking, when I grew up nearly every neighbour hood had an ice cream shop of one time. You could go and get a cone and have a selection of about 20 flavors. Or get a shake or a float.
I mean sure there are diary queens around but to me its not the same, their ice cream is generic and their flavors are kind of weird.
Now if you want an ice cream, you go to dairy queen. Or you go to a grocery store and buy a box, or go to a convienience store and grab something from the freezer.
But there was something kind of mystical about going and looking at flavors and really great about going on a 30 degree day and standing in a chilled store.

out east we had these:
We lived in a fairly hilly area. Me and A buddy negotiated with the teenager running it to push it up the hill for 2 treats.
He always paid, but looking back we were idiots. There were a lot of steep hills, but we had way more time & energy than money.

I haven't been in a while but there is one in forest lawn that's pretty good, beside subway.
They sell ice cream, shakes....and passport and wedding photos.

I worked for Super S as a stockman back in HS.

My mom used to take my sister and I shopping at that Super S when we were little kids. This was when we were new immigrants. There was also a Loaf N' Jug on 14th St and 25th Ave. SW where my mom would buy us candy and gum.
I was talking with a co-worker today about how journalists looked like average joes (or jills) back in the day. Now they all look like models. But there was a time when an anchor man on a national news program looked like this:
Is that place closed? That is super disappointing, it was awesome, I was looking forward to taking my kids
Yeah. I was trying to think of the other one. I think Wild’n’Wet and Wild Waters. Kinda sucks that there aren’t any outdoor water parks in Kelowna anymore. I remember they were extremely well used, but I guess there is limited need during winter.

Vancouver's full of them, the Italian heritage and all.
Casa Gelato on Venables has 200 flavours made on premises

Small town Hockey rink concession burgers and fries with gravy. Rink burgers were extra greasy and those fries and gravy were so darn good. When we would be on the road for hockey I always got a rink burger with fries. Amazing.
Rink gravey holds up as an adult. Still the best fries and gravey you can get
