Gotta laugh at the people with abandonment issues who thought because here I go again on my own was a song of the day + globe and mail speculating fan 590 would interview him = were sure he was going. If you pay attention to the guy and his situation at all it never seemed realistic

I don't get all the Steinberg hate, I think he does a great job. He can laugh at himself and has a great sense of self depreciating humour. He just seems like a good dude in general, with solid sports knowledge. I think he also has a solid voice too, it amazes new how many broadcasters have very non-broadcasterish voices.
I'd be disappointed if any one of the headliner morning or Big Show personalities left.
btw , as a newer regular listener, am I the only one who's had trouble in the past differentiating between Kerr and Loubo on the radio? I literally thought it was Loubo and Steinberg the first couple weeks back in the summer

They sound quite different. Are you sure it wasn't Loubo - he subs for Kerr sometimes.
My $0.02. I did not like boomer at the start. I thought he tried too hard and smacked on Rhett too much.
Now, I think he has relaxed into his role and is doing a very good job. He has also reduced the amount of interruptions which drives me nuts. The chemistry the three of them has is enjoyable and makes me laugh. I would be dissappointed if he left. I hate it when Rhett is not on. He is the best part of the show and I wish they would just let him tell his stories.
So as someone who hasn't listened to their show in a long time, this is why I didn't like Boomer. Just tried way too hard to be funny and wasn't. His "so and so sport sucks" schtick was pretty awful too. How about just not talking about it then.
Molberg fits the market, and this is precisely why he wouldn't work out in Toronto. Calgary is a hockey town. It's a football town. It is not a sports town.
The reason there are such polarising opinions in Calgary about Jim Rome are in various ways connected to the popular perceptions about sports other than hockey and football.

Richards followed by Holbrook followed by Rome was the absolute pinnacle.
This is the era that I listened to the most. Richards was great when he didn't have any inkling that a move out of 960 was happening, and his last six months were atrocious. The call in show with Holbrook was also great. It was nice to hear a woman sportsfan's viewpoint, until that one caller that got through screening and started a sexist attack on the air, which caused Rogers to panic and pull the plug. Even Rome was more about sports and less about schtick. Rome is unlistenable now.
The formula of starting the day with sports and comedy, transitioning into serious sportstalk and and then into sports/interviews was fantastic.
Now there is sports and comedy, followed by unfunny comedy and a little sports. 960 isn't a station that you can leave on all day any more.

Richards was getting old for me. He was repeating bits, and even getting so lazy as to play old bits a lot, or just doing impression-fests. Kept on bringing on Pierre Maguire too. I didn't stop listening though.
It's funny one poster early ion this thread complained about not enough serious sports on the present show and then said he liked Richards.
Once Richards was on his way out, he really poisoned the well with listeners. He didn't want to help Rogers in any way and it was clear that the relationship had soured. Two or three years before his exit, he was really good but the memory of that last year is weak.

Word out of Rogers is co-host for Dean Blundell on Fan 590 radio morning show in Toronto is Ryan Pinder. He's morning co-host in Calgary.

Too bad if Pinder's put. He was a good foil for Boomer and Rhett. Good luck in Toronto Pinder!
Hope its not Pinder or Boomer... take Loubo! My wife cant stand listening to his voice and I have to admit shes right.. He sounds so pompous and full of himself...
