Lifetime Suspension

Not a fan of Portugal, but the most impressive player on that team is Pepe, he is in on every defensive play. I don't watch Real Madrid(in fact i had to look up his club team), so I was not really familiar with him.

So stupid that yellows don't get washed out until after the quarters for this tournament.
Great that teams like Italy and Wales will be missing key players if they make it to the semi-finals.

I think having the amnesty twice is too much. The tournament turns into a hackfest because a player could have 3 yellow cards in 6 matches and not get suspended.
Perhaps having cards only wiped out after the group stage is better but then that puts players at risk of missing the final.
So far Portugal have 1 and Wales have 2 players suspended. Italy might not get any yellow cards today!

I don't see how you equate removing punishment for yellow cards as having a hackfest as an end result.
I'd rather have the players be able to go for each and every game rather than have 11 timid Italians play in a QF.
Everyone loses. The players, the fans. The Wales/Portugal final will be worse off for missing one of the better players in this tournament due to a hack handball.

in that case handballs and kicking the ball away shouldn't be yellow cards. Or have that black card you've been talking about.
There are other solutions.
1. Amnesty after 2nd round. Then it would take a yellow in both the QF and SF to miss the final.
2. Only suspended if yellow cards in any consecutive matches
3. No amnesty, suspension after 3 total yellows
But in the end, they're trying to punish yellow cards so not sure how lenient it should be.

No kidding. They are running over Wales, score and then decide to go into a shell, and really never got back on track. How stupid. Let's defend a 1-0 lead for 75 minutes and let Wales get back into it. Given the disparity in talent, Belgium should have just kept the pedal down. Probably would have won 5-2.

So ummm...ratings for the Euros are doing ok in Iceland. Could be better I guess, still some room to improve.
Quote:
Iceland's 2-1 upset victory over England during June 27's UEFA Euro 2016 match drew insane ratings in that country. According to Spanish newspaper AS, 99.8 percent of Iceland’s TVs that were on were tuned in to the game.

The number of 'tactical' yellow cards teams take is already a clear problem to the game if you ask me.
Just so easy to stop an attack by pulling a player down with your hands. No chance of a red card, good chance of not even getting a yellow if you do it early enough. With the amnesties teams can do this 10-20 times every game and lose 1-2 playergames total in the tournament.
The only real upside to the amnesties is that it favours the underdog teams (who can more easily stop more skilled teams and who have less depth on the bench to replace suspended players), but it's at the cost of a lot of attacks that never happen.

This wasn't a park the bus dull game far from it.
It took Wales only 17 min to answer lol. Wales was starstruck for the first 10 min. Once that mad scrabble didn't result in a goal with desperation defending that would have made it 2-0 early Wales started to take the game to the Allstars.
Belgium just like the rest of the soccer world from the big nations expected a cake walk.
I don't think Iceland and Wales have accomplished what they have stunning Euro16. Blind luck, no hard work, belief, unity and saying eff the critics boys we take the fight to them. Or we lose risking it all.
The tiny nations of Iceland and Wales are playing for each other, Gylfi for Iceland and Bale for Wales no attitudes. Anyone in Blue or Red can be the hero.
The Mids attack the shooters outside the box. Force rushed passes.
All the major powerhouses are used to toying with the opposition.
Wales had 15 sog
46% possession time
7 corners
Belgium had virtually the same state line. Hardly a park the bus game.
The biggest reason Wales knew they had a chance vs the Uber talented Belgium is that if they stuck to their identity because they played them twice in qualifying group a draw and a 1-0 Wales win.
The ref was ridiculous carded 3 Welsh players on exactly the first 3 fouls only 24 min in. Every foul resulted in a card (?) Wales beat that BS adversity and would not back down.
Iceland will not back down if France is going to beat them Iceland will force them to. Everyone keeps expect oh little Iceland and Wales to lay down.
Keeping fighting boys! Wave your flags!

The only way I won't be upset if Germany doesn't win, is if Iceland makes the final.
That said, I'm pretty nervous about today's game.

In fairness, those were 3 tactical fouls hauling a Belgian player down to prevent a counterattack, those are automatic yellows.
Thats not exactly adversity, they knew what they were doing.

It seems every time the Germans play Italy they change tactics for unknown reasons. Formation change today and Draxler isn't starting...

Agree they were tactical fouls and intentional. They were intended fouls i don't disagree. However Not one were yellow card worthy. Not one resulted in verbal warning. Not one was committed with malice or a violent result. And if counterattack fouls are suddenly yellow card offences Which they are not unless the tactical foul is committed with over agression. The Gunter foul was at least a trip so I fine if the ref wants card that fine. But that was a simple trip not a hard tackle.
There would be 20 yellow cards every game if refs started carding soft fouls.
At half the panel even commented those were pretty light yellow cards issued. They were jersey pulls and 1 trip. Let's see how many jersey pulls in transition in the Germany vs Italy game result in fouls nothing more as they should. There will be dozens.
The most ridiculous non call vs Belgium was Hazard after being tackled grabs the ball and throws it 20 yards away. That is a yellow card everyday.

The Germans have depth but sitting Draxler is odd. Amazing at set pieces and can run at pace for days.
So who is starting instead Podolski??
Ozil and Muller and Draxler would my choice in mids.
