I was hopping Kenney would ride off into the sunset with Harper.

I just meant disproportional in the sense that about 40% of elected Liberal MPs were women, but they make up 50% of the cabinet. It's not really a huge difference but some people are making a big deal out of it.
Heck, in my office, the head boss is a female and so are 2/3rd of the senior management. And each one of them deserves it. When I was in university, the hardest working students I knew were female.. Politics has long been a man's game, but it is no surprise to me that women entering the game are more than qualified to lead rolls.

Our new defense minister:
Quote:
"Not only did [Sajjan] display a rare high level of intellect and experience in his analysis, he also demonstrated remarkable personal courage… often working in the face of the enemy to collect data and confirm his suspicions, and placing himself almost daily in situations of grave personal risk."
"[He] demonstrated a profound understanding of the Taliban and tribal networks…"
"He was the best single Canadian intelligence asset in theater, and his hard work, personal bravery and dogged determination undoubtedly saved a multitude of Coalition lives."
"Through his courage and dedication, Major Sajjan has single-handedly changed the face of intelligence gathering and analysis in Afghanistan."
"[H]is analysis was so compelling that it drove a number of large scale theatre-resourced efforts, including OPERATION MEDUSA... that resulted in the defeat of the largest TB cell yet identified in Afghanistan, with over 1500 Taliban killed or captured."
"I rate him as one of the best intelligence officers I have ever worked with."
"I have advised my chain of command that the Canadian Forces must capture his skill-set, and seek his advice on how to change our entire tactical intelligence training and architecture to best meet the needs of future deployed units fighting in extremely complex human battlespace."

Not quite sure about this. She went on a blatantly ignorant rant and said some really stupid stuff when the supreme court decision came down reversing CPC's decision to restrict medical marijuana to a dried form saying:
"Court has ruled that marijuana cookies and brownies are quote medicinal treatment" ... "Frankly I’m outraged at the Supreme Court."... "We have this message that normalizes a drug where there is no clear clinical evidence that it is, quote-unquote, a medicine" calling marijuana a medicine only "because judges deemed it so."
When the press asked questions about why she wasn't doing more to enact regulations around marijuana and it's derivatives as minister of health... she said "That’s not my job as minister"
http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/ambrose...ling-1.2417118
Even though non of what she said was based on fact
http://www.straight.com/news/470286/...-about-medical
She was just following party policy under Harper, making things up to that effect even when it's false and if the CPC's goal is to get elected again this isn't a promising thing given how strongly voters rejected that brand of politics in the last election.
http://www.michaelspratt.com/law-blo...e-based-policy
She was also minister of environment under Harper, how did that turn out for Canada. Kyoto accords, etc.

Nothing wrong with the cabinet ministers. I like the way things are unfolding. Should be a good 4 years.

Also runs on a ballsy platform of being an anti-drug, anti-abortion, mandatory minimums supporting libertarian.

Speak for yourself, I'd take a shot at whoever they elected. Seriously though, I hope she does a decent job and the Conservatives are a constructive part of the next Parliament. No more binders on how to disrupt committees please

I prefer mocking whoever they picked, because it is sad to complain about the interim leader of a party that has so little to choose from. That said there are people who would receive less mocking (in fairness there are also some who would receive more, like Kenney).
Someone who's credentials include being a Minister of Environment who didn't care about the environment and Minister of the Status of Women who was openly disliked by women's groups is basically the opposite of what the country wants in a leader and the fact the CPC has decided that is who should lead their party shows a pretty distinct lack of self-awareness of what just happened to them during the last election. The Cons are in for a rough ride for a while with the direction they're going.

How do our resident Liberal Fanboy's feel about Trudeau's decision to assign only women in cabinet to 'Minster of State' positions, thereby decreasing their pay?
Unequal pay for equal work?
Isn't it 2015? Too funny.

Trudeau has scrambled quickly to correct this slap in the face to women in cabinet.

Because we think Rona Ambrose is an awful choice?
It's not her gender, it's her politics and closeness to Harper and Harper's policies. I think most of us were hoping for something less Reform and more Progressive.
