I thought this CBC interview with JD Vance was really interesting. I didn’t know much about him before he was picked as Trump’s VP, but he’s surprisingly articulate and insightful. Clearly he’s not a Trump supporter at this time, so would be very interesting to understand how he moved into the Trump camp.

Vance is a smart guy. Very accomplished. I look at Vance as the Republican version of Pete Buttigieg - solely on the fact that they are young, educated, and accomplished.
I have no doubt that Vance is not a MAGA Republican, but merely taking advantage of the political winds of the party and his own personal rise within in.
Trump will be 80 during his term. He is not a healthy man, and while the Presidency didnt seem to age him as much as others (probably because he didnt give a #### about the job) there is a non-zero chance that he dies in office.
Even if that doesnt happen, Vance has another 35 years of potential kicks at the Presidential can himself.
(non-MAGA) Vance v Buttigieg would be my absolute ideal Presidential matchup in the future.

Are you buying milk at the superstore liquor store?

Lol. No, IGA.
Granted, the IGA location close to where I live is typically a little more than say Superstore or Wal-Mart. I only go in there if I am in a pinch and only need like one or two things and don't want to drive an extra 10 minutes to go somewhere else. I definitely won't do a full on shopping experience there.

Organic milk? That is like $9-$10 but Dairyland 2% is usually under $6 in mainstream grocery stores.

I just double checked, not organic milk. I could see myself making that mistake though.
Regular Island Farms Agropur Co-op 2% milk.

Canadians should pay attention.
Vance is anti-China pro American re-industrialization. We can really benefit from a move in that direction.
American protectionism cannot survive without partners. Canada needs to align itself as a partner for the future, as its already clear that the US is ahead on the clean energy game.

I think we all view Obama has having a higher standing and more authority since he used to be Joe's "boss", but Joe definitely doesn't see it that way!
Real sliding doors moment though in 2016. I'm not sure if Biden would have had enough to beat Trump, but even if he didn't, he certainly wouldn't be on the ticket right now!
|
Didn't Biden choose not to run in 2016 because of his son's death? Am I missing something here?
The other sliding doors moment is, what if the NFL allowed Trump to buy the Buffalo Bills. He probably doesn't run for president in that universe.

I just bought 12 liters from Costco on Monday for $6.89/4-liter jug.
It really has come up a lot.
Wasn't long ago a 4-liter jug was $4.

I think that’s an optimistic stance on Vance. His original backing came from Thiel who is on record saying democracy and freedom can no longer co-exist. Could all be pandering but I doubt it.

Dairy and poultry will always be stupidly expensive in Canada because of supply management. Should be axed.

If Trump does get in again, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if he kicked the bucket early in his term and have Vance take over.

Vance is a Peter Thiel wind up toy, he has no underlying belief system. Musk/Thiel/Sacks are trying to commandeer the Republican party as part of their accelerationist
agenda. Trump is simply the vehicle to power and is pliable enough to accept VP nom for cash. When people bitch about immigration it should be about carpetbaggers from South Africa and Germany.

Milk drinkers are weird anyway. I hope they have to pay $30 for a 4L of milk.

That's a pretty crazy price. I buy that exact same stuff for ~$5.60 for a 4L at the cheaper places (Costco, Superstore, etc.) and even at the non-big box stores around here (Thrifty Foods, etc.) it's usually never more than $6.75 or so. Ad in those places you might as well get Natrel which is basically the same stuff and that's usually $5.75.

Biden saying he would drop out of a medical condition presented itself.
Is it too soon to go back and dig up all the posts here where people argued he was on top of his game? lol.
