The Sergeant pepper....
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I had definitive Burger experience of my lifetime tonight. And it was all based on a mistaken order.
To start, I would consider myself a Burger connoisseur. If I was granted one final meal, it would be a juicy home grilled Burger topped with a fried egg, on a chewy moist bun, with all the fixings, but tonight.... that changed.
It changed to Sergeant Pepper burger at Original Joe's pub.
When the waitress came to my table I was talking to a friend on the phone, and pointed to the Standard original Joes Burger on the menu, but from her angle it appeared that I was pointing at the selection below, which in the Burger in question.
When it was brought to my table open faced, it was obvious this was not the standard fare item I had selected, but since I was in a hurry, I chose to stick with my order and be on my way. In front of me was an unusual looking combination with white cheese, banana peppers, red onions, lettuce, tomato and some sort of spicy mayo. It also looked burnt, but upon closer inspection, it was actually a pepper crusted patty. At this point I was kind of intrigued. I like spicy food, so this might work out well. I assembled the two halves of this nearly half pound, thick monster, and prepared to just tear through it so I could get on my way, and then the moment happened.
I took my first bite and it was the perfect moment in the Burger universe. Burger singularity had been achieved. In the world of grilled ground beef on a bun I had found the Higgs Boson, the element (s) that unified all known theories of flavour and texture. The patty was crisp and spicy on the outside, but moist, juicy and delicious on the inside. The banana peppers and red onions enhanced the bite of pepper coated patty and chipotle sauce with a subtly sour yet hot sensation. The thick slice of well melted provolone cheese added a smooth, bold, yet delicate taste just noticeable in the background. The fresh lettuce and tomato didn’t do much to enhance the experience, but still served as comforting reminders that this was still a hamburger you were eating. And to finish off the package, the Kaiser bun had the perfect combination of firmness and chewiness. One of those buns where your finger depressions would slowly rebound to their original form after setting it down for a minute or two. I was in heaven. This was the perfect Hamburger. It was so good I chose to forgo the mashed potato and Caesar salad side orders in fear they would ruin the dance of flavours waltzing on my palette.
In my 35 years of travels, and many a $30 dollar ‘gourmet’ Burger, nothing has come close. This was the one that exceeded all expectations, and set the bar at a new level. I am almost afraid to sample this masterpiece again in fear that I was the victim of some freak culinary phenomena that will never be achieved again. All this for only 13.99 with two sides of your choice.

I know it sounds unusual, but don't knock it until you've tried it.

Has anyone tried Lounge Burger downtown by the dome, I heard it was great and wouldn't mind trying it before a game sometime?

Burger St. Co. in Cross Iron mills makes a tasty burger with a good array of fixin's. Try the homemade relish, goat cheese and guacomole on it. Not cheap - but worth the extra few bucks.

OJs has really good burgers. The Spolumbos burger is good as well. Instead of bacon they put sausage on the burger.

Wow no Lounge Burger endorsements?
No matter how plain or how twisted your taste in burgers, Lounge Burger has it. Last time I has a bison burger with jalapeno jack cheddar, bacon, and horseradish mustard. Awesome. A girl I was with had an Ostrich burger with eggplant and curry ketchup. Looked gross but she said it was great. Bunch of different choices of fries too.

The different fries are gone. As is the $40 burger.
A waitress said there was constant confusion between the kitchen and the servers as to what type of fries were on the plate, so they just took away the option to have different flavors. Shame.
Also, there was an entire Lounge Burger thread, in case you wanted to add to it.

The Drum & Monkey has a Spolumbos burger as well which I really like. It's called the monkey burger.
