On ESPN last night, they interviewed McDavid in the first intermission, and the host asked him about his first even strength goa of the series. And McDavid whined something to the effect of 'why do you guys differentiate even strength vs PP goals? They all count the same'.

Yes Connor, they all count the same. But if you don't understand the point, you are NEVER going to win anything.

Also, after the interview, the host called McDavid 'intensely focused', because McDavid was a childish asshat throughout the interview. And in response, Messier said 'intensely focused - is that what we are going to call that?'. Even Messier could say nothing positive about McDavid's behavior.

This will always stand out to me but there was an interview a couple years ago with Draisatil, McDavid, and James Neal (when he was on his start of season heater) and they asked "What is one rule you'd love to change about the NHL?"

And Draisaitl and McDavid were both like "I wish shootout goals counted as goals".

Like if that's the first rule you are hoping to change you know where your priorities lie.

LOL at Spector on 960 right now defending Draisaitl snubbing Pietrangelo at the handshake.

I don't actually think the snub is an issue. Dude two hands your wrist and I wouldn't want to shake hands either.

Now the whole fake slash the Oilers were doing all game, including with 2 minutes left when you're about the lose the series....now that was embarrassing.

You need it paired with the 'before' photo though with oiler suit guy carrying the sign.

It was embarrassing and it meant they weren't focused on the right things. I noticed that he took significantly less shots in the last two games and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a slight injury associated with having someone slash a forearm in that manner, regardless of what professional protection they have on.

Reminds me a bit about Dino Ciccarelli and Claude Lemieux back in 1996. Hard feelings aren't going to go away immediately after the game has finished, especially if you are on the losing end.

Draisaitl slashed guys all series, including game 6. And he didn't just snub Pietrangelo - he was pissy to every Knight.

Did Pietrangelo shake Kane's hand or did he snub him for trying to run him head first through the boards?

That's the thing though - that's why it is so amazing and awesome that they shake hands after the series in hockey. The teams basically try to kill each other, and then when it's over, they shake. Much worse has been done, than what we saw in this series. And teams shook anyway.

No excuse for Draisaitl's behavior, IMO. The handshake is glorious, but he put himself above it.

I would love to watch this - anyone have a link to ESPN between period video?

He shook his hand didn't he...I thought he just didn't make eye contact?

I don't know - feels like they are making a big deal of what was nothing more than a cold handshake.

Took his hand and kinda tossed it away. Might have muttered something. But most players say something - good luck, good series, etc. Draisaitl and a few others were headed for the hills.

Watch again - Draisaitl shakes his hand, but then throws his hand backwards, effectively tossing Pietrangelo's handshake away.

Pretty childish. And disrespectful of the institution of playoff handshaking

Feels like a non-story to me.

Actually feels fabricated by the Oilers media homers to not have to talk about how Draisaitl and McDavid weren't good the last couple games, and how the team was clearly distracted by Pietrangelo last night with their fake slashes...while Pietrangelo was a +4 and Draisaitl a -4.

It's just characteristic of a culture of poor sportsmanship on a team of which Draisaitl is a leader. If he didn't want to play in a series where star players were targets of attempts to injure, he should have exercised his leadership skills in preventing his team and his linemate from taking it that direction. Pieterangelo's slash was a dirty play and shouldn't be in the game, but it's not as though it came out of nowhere. The Oilers set the tone for that, not Vegas or Pieterangelo. Failing to be a good sport by shaking your opponent's hand after being fairly beaten by them on terms your team set is just another L to take.

I really don't see how anyone could want their kids to cheer for a team with that culture. They have talent, but they're far from role models, and for all the talent they have there has been no team successes, only individual successes. That's not what team sports are about.

18 PPG in 12 games, and they only went 6-6 in those 12 games.

Just atrocious at 5 on 5.
