Funny seeing the hate for Ryan now that he's an Oiler. Guess that's what happens when you sign with a rival.

Hate to say it, but Ryan instantly makes the Oilers bottom 6 better. He's the best bottom 6 C they have had in years. Really the only thing going against him is his age.

Sucks he's with the Oilers, but from a hockey perspective he helps make their team better and it's hard to deny that when you take off the E=NG glasses.

Decent off-season for the Oilers up front.

I'll not thank you for this....even though you are correct.

I'd wager that signing Derek Ryan is likely the Oilers' best move thus far. I like him as a player.

However, as a caveat...I wish him nothing but poor performance and I hope he just takes his money and loafs about. It worked for James Neal.

He’s going to be 35 in December, isn’t fleet of foot, and will probably get slower. I’m kind of indifferent to Ryan as he was good in the face off dot and doesn’t hurt you on the ice but this team badly needs to get faster and signing a guy of Ryan’s age to multiple seasons just doesn’t make a lot of sense as we went through that with Stajan hanging around too long on the 4th line.

Same here. I actually liked Smith here for the most part. Same with Russelmania. But like Ryan, they dirty filthy 0ilers now and deserve to be pointed and lol'ed at.
