Following up on what shadowlord posted. It was approximately forty minutes ago that the ninth boy was rescued and twenty minutes for the tenth boy!

I used to work for Intermap. Spent 4 years with the radar systems they use to make those maps, the cave network would have been estimations based off of the topography.

I remember first hearing about this news before they had found the boys and thinking that this was one of those stories that was definitely not going to have a happy ending. I am stunned. What a great achievement!

I guess we should have figured a team of soccer players would be good divers.

we can joke, they all made it out!

Here's a nice story with some background on the boys and the coach.

What great news to wake up to! I was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. After learning about this ordeal, this is the best possible outcome and one of the best happy endings I have ever heard.

Kudos to the rescuers, volunteers, divers and engineers who made this all possible. And a special Kudos to the Thai government who used their time and resources to make sure the best possible outcome was accomplished. Great leadership shown by them, and as strange as it sounds it makes me want to visit Thailand more then ever.

And the coach is most definitely a hero. That cave is used by many people during dry season and if it wasn't the team and coach trapped, it very well could have been someone else. 12 boys went in alive, and 12 came out alive. Imagine being trapped in darkness for weeks with a dwindling food and water supply, no beds or toilets, not knowing if you will ever make it out alive, and the lives of 12 young boys in your hands.

The guy is 100% a hero, and shame on anyone who argues otherwise.

This was a story that had bad ending written all over it, so I’m extra happy to hear that they all made it out safely - except the Thai navy diver that lost his life in the rescue.

Kudos to the bravery, ingenuity and collaboration shown by all involved.

I'm shamelessly texting other dads that joke as we speak. That was a premium class dad joke right there.
