Maybe Flames fans see a bit of Iggy in Ovi so they wanted to see that story finish differently...
There is a lot of parallel for Flames fans in the Washington Capitals: from Iginla and Ovechkin, to Washington's hurdle with Pittsburgh and the 1980s Flames struggles with the Oilers, to the high number of first-round playoff exits.

Hell, the Capitals even used to play in a building that looked like this...

Yeah...Cup holding hands seem familiar...roasted on Twitter.

Hope SI gets a nice little fallout from that, wow.

Have been overwhelmed by the incredible joy displayed by Cap fans. The videos are unbelievable.

Man to be part of that. For us tortured Flames fans it just seems to far away...

There are so many awesome shots of Ovi showing passion why the eff did they feel the need to manufacture one? The horrendous shopping aside, there is no need for that.

Beagle lives on my cul-de-sac. Hoping he brings the cup to his house and that I'm around to go congratulate him. Way to go Caps, you deserved it.

While it is true that Montrealers seem only to riot when the Canadiens win, they and Vancouverites are pretty much the poster-children for hockey riots.

Hmm, i stand corrected.

Why am I not surprised by those 3 fan bases?

None of those cities should ever win the cup again.

seeing Ovi win was great... seeing fans in Washington DC celebrate has been equally joyful... i mean 40+ seasons they've waited to win this things.

i think i read 91 seasons combined of their pro sports franchises not winning a championship...that is an incredible dry spell.

remembering how fun it was to walk on 17th during the 2004 run, makes me happy for Washington fans... great fanbase who have suffered tons of heartbreak...so happy for them

Laine was for sure cheering for Washington. His favourite player growing up just won the Cup and knocked out the team that knocked out his.

Happy for Ovie though.

At home or on the road, it doesn't matter where you win the cup. The Flames winning it in Montreal was awesome! Revenge from 1986. The Penguins have won all their cups on the road, so did the Bhawks until winning it at home in 2015.
