That wasn't boxing a guy out either. Staal was literally just standing in the middle of the ice. That was retaliation for an earlier hit.
I'd be very surprised if Morrissey plays game 5.

No suspension-fine
Morrissey's cross-check was definitely a penalty, but there is no evidence it was some retaliatory action. He was trying to box out Staal with a cross-check which is normal, but he ends up missing the shoulder and it goes into his neck. Penalty, no history of similar actions by the player, at most it should be a fine.
It may have turned the game, nobody knows. The fact is that Minnesota had two more periods to score, and focusing on one play, is a deliberate attempt to overshadow their failure to score.

Yeah I suppose it's funny that I'm taking into consideration the offenders? Foligno is a dirty player and Morrissey isn't. Hilarious right?

Its hilarious you are such a Homer you can't see how ridiculously dirty that play is
Cross check to the neck/head vs. falling down and grabbing a guy who gets a freak injury

What's your stance on Wideman and Henderson?

It's funny that this is literally the only thing you are taking into consideration.

Intent does matter. If he gets suspended a game I won't go on a hungry strike or be mad. I just know if up to me it would be a max fine.

History and intent are not synonyms.
Of the two, the one with intent was the Morrissey hit.

Should probably be a game.
I still hate Staal for the slashing incident on Gaudreau so I have a tough time seeing the criminal intent that some of the rest of you see in that play.

Landeskog has been suspended for similar stuff so I think Morrissey will be too.

TSN 1040 just reported that Morrissey has been suspended for one game.
Cue the outpouring of incredulity from the Winnipegers.

Probably not what I would have done but what can you do. Niku likely slides in and the Jets will have to lean on buff and chiarot

Wow that was vicious. Terrible game management by the refs. That's embarrassing for the league.

I'm honestly surprised it wasn't two. The Kadri suspension is looking like a lot right now (or more accurately, all the other suspensions and non-suspensions are looking too lenient). It's good that they're dishing them out at all, though, I guess.

Congrats to the Jets and their fans. That city will be wild tonight. Always a fun ride when a Canadian team goes on a run!
