Shooting a career low 7.7% on a team with arguably the worst puck moving blue line in the NHL. While being a RHS forward on a team with too many of them between himself, Eichel, and Reinhart filling overlapping offensive niches, a non-issue on the Flames who haven't had a top six skilled RHS forward since Iginla and whose future hopes lie in Matthew Phillips and Eetu Tuulola.

You are describing every top six forward contract over 30, minus two years.

Well, I mean, if the idea of, in some universe, simultaneously dropping Brouwer and adding a legitinate top 6 forward does not make sense to you, that's cool.

And thus any trade for Okposo or ROR or even Kane would obviously have extranneous salaries like Stone, Brouwer, and/or Frolik going the other way.

Well, no. You are comparing what is probably a solid first liner to what was probably at his absolute best a solid 3rd liner, who are signed through to the same age at the end of their deals. Even factoring in a sudden decline you'd have a serviceable top 9 forward in the final years, which is a worst case scenario.
I'm not interested in your mental gymnastics.

That's a bad contract now with the potential to be terrible looking at our upcoming cap landscape.

It's a terrible idea.

Don't get too upset. Your wording, atleast to a few, seemed to imply you have some inside info. If that's not the case, why not just say so and then no big deal.

Nothing out of Buffalo other than draft picks is worth it

Leave Lehner out of it, ride Gillies (I think he has looked great) until smith gets back.

Kane (resigned)
ROR (25% retained)
=
Jankowski
R. Andersson
A. Fox

It was a joke that he isn’t worth bringing in. That the longer he is here the worse of a deal it would be. That the most valuable thing about him is that his contract is expiring. The less time he would be here the better.

Acquiring Kane from Buffalo would be a worse deal than throwing in a 2nd so the Sabres would take Kotalik in the Regehr for Butler disaster trade.

To me it is clear that I am stating my opinion, but if I were to look at it in hindsight and use my imagination, I can see why people would jump to conclusions. Especially given that I never mentioned a source. That really came out of left field for me.

The skin colour means something there to a lot of people. The level of disdain and vitriol when that came out was off the charts.

Before anyone gets mad no I'm not claiming that everyone who said something is racist, not even close. But there's no way the hysteria reaches the level it did with a white player, not a chance.

Kane >>> Okposo.

Okposo has 10 goals, is 29, and has 5 more years at 6M. That’s Lucic bad.

I think this has played into Kane’s negative media coverage in Canada. Other players around the league have done worse/do worse, and it gets far less coverage.

Don't want to be giving up our two best RHD prospects. Change Andersson to Kylington and then maybe that gets it done. At this point in that scenario I change Jankowski to Bennett.. I just like Jankowski's raw toolset versus Bennett's. Janko could learn a lot from ROR playing LW on the 3rd line and take reps with the fourth line wingers later into games.... that would be crazy deep centre depth.

I don't see Kane going for that. He knows what he is and he knows his next contract is his last "payday". He'll be looking to grab a 5-7 year deal, I can't see otherwise.

You need to do some reflecting on how you're coming across.

Not to long ago you posted:

I hope Treliving can take Botterill to the cleaners and pull some wizardry by not giving up too much. Buffalo does have some enticing players to pick up. I think we need something to give us some more scoring.

I have no doubt that you knew what you were doing. You probably found out that you could get suspended or banned and now are doing a 180. Don't think you should be punished for it ,but have no problem if posters call you out on it for a while.

Kane was on a Canadian team when this coverage started with all the talk on him walking out on tabs in bars and restaurants in Winnipeg while posting pictures of himself with wads of cash in Vegas.

That’s what caused the ####storm for him.

Evander Kane has scored at a 26 goal pace over his entire career.

Durability is a concern for sure as the most number of games he's played in one season was 74.

His skillset is definitely something I'd love on this team.

He also beat Petrovic up 3 times in one game last year:

No thanks. That's 3 quality guys that have a lot of years under control for a 26 year old, and a 30 year old. Wouldn't trade 2 d prospecta, and I like Jankowski. Tough call, but I don't think Treliving is shortening our window in order to win this year.
