I used to never buy into the Wideman stuff but man this team gets the shaft from the officials on plenty of nights. Really poor stuff, we all know the NHL is an old buddy run organization the refs are the same way. NHL has had garbage officiating for as long as I can remember but this season has been the worst. And don't give me it balances out, these are back breaking phantom calls that lose teams games.

Crappy reffing aside, that was not a great period by the Flames. Once again, their passing seems really off. As usual, the Backlund line are the only guys making things happen in the offensive zone.

Johnson looks good, despite that floater shot that went in. The rest of the team needs to wake the hell up.

That's a funny stat, because it can't account for ratio of infractions dealt upon/penalties drawn. He might draw a call a game, but he takes a dozen slashes and they only call the most egregious trips. It's like the refs turn a blind eye when he is playing.

Tkachuk on the other hand... the refs are always watching him. He draws and takes more penalties than anyone else. Stripes can't take their eyes off him.

The backlund unsportsmanlike penalty the other night was by far the most infuriated I've ever been at the refs. The Ferland one as well from a week or so ago was also just brutal.

Sharks going with 5 D for the last 2 periods last night and almost the whole game tonight.

Flames need to ratchet it up a couple of levels.

I would really like to see Gaudreau drive the D deeper. Either push them back below the dot and then button hook or just drive the net and take a shot. I find lately he has been curling right after the blue line and it's just not working.
