I think people are drastically underrating Nylander in this thread. I am not advocating that is the slam dunk pick we should make but I think many of you have no clue how good that kids shot and skill set is.

There is no resounding top tier defense man in this draft that the Canucks or oilers are going to make their selection on. The oilers are going to be looking for assets that will help them now, not in 2-3 years. The Canucks are on a down swing and have holes to plug everywhere. They need to take best player available.

This is a tricky one for the flames cause they are not going to get a guy at 6 who is going to help them next year (in all likelihood).

It's kind of a running in place pick. If they can use that to pick up Anderson, I would.
Are you trolling or just that stupid?

I just don`t see Nylander as the type of player high on the Flames list

For some reason, Steinberg was suggesting this trade before the lottery... blows my mind.

Thats not what I mean. Bennett could bust and Draisaitl could turn into a PPG player, but the fact is, going back to that draft, Bennett was the top ranked player. But he slid to 4, mostly because the Oilers felt they had enough forwards of his type so went for a taller more physical player in Draisaitl. They deviated from the BPA to go with an organisational need. You can't rule out them doing it again.

He is not going to be a banger but then again neither will be Tkachuk. I have Dubois ahead of those two but even seeing a bunch of Tkachuk I still would draft Nylander over him.

I like him. I think people are put by the fact he's Micheal's son and William's brother. It's not like their father was horrendous, the dude still put up close to 700 NHL points. Williams had 13 in 22 games last year. The family is talented.

I'd gladly take him. He actually plays both ends of the ice was used on the PK as well.

We picked Tkaczuk with the first 6th overall which was my reasoning..

There shouldn't even be a lottery IMO. Classic case of the NHL overthinking things.

Winnipeg got rewarded for finishing strong. Calgary gets a gift in the form of Edmonton and Vancouver getting shafted. But what in the #### will it take for us to get in the top 3??? Not even once ffs.

Now I'm laughing at how people were freaking out at the win over Minnesota and the subsequent Jets game. Maybe we should have been good fans instead of crapping all over that win. That's hockey karma right there..

Landing #6 seems our fate.

I'm guessing that with the sixth pick, Flames will left with and interested in: Chychrun or Sergachev but will look to trade down just a bit, taking Brown or Jost and snagging another first.
Dubois and Tkachuk will be gone.

I don't even mind Winnipeg getting Laine. Their fans deserve somethings for enduring so much mediocrity and losing their team for 20 years. Lesser of three evils indeed.

Nice touch there bud.

The flames take another small skills forward that won't help them for 2-3 years, they'll be picking 6th again next year.

We can't possibly strike out twice on a Tkachuk/Tkaczuk, right?

I think he would be a reach there. Probably more in the 8-15 range

I think we'll probably end up with one of Tkachuk/Dubois. If somehow both of them were gone I suspect we'd take the top ranked dman on our list.

Tkachuk, Dubois or Nylander, I'm fine with any of the three.

Slight favor to Tkachuk cause he's more NHL ready.
