Ah... Backstrom hasn't played in over a year. He's not going to play over anyone.

If it makes you feel better, in August I spent like $80 turning my old Bouwmeester jersey into a Russell jersey ($30 to remove name bar, $40 for the new one, $10 for the "A" on the front).
But I'd still rather have an outdated Russell jersey than an outdated Bouwmeester, so whatevs

Yeah, I had a lot of those like Bure, Niedermayer, etc. but that would be going back pretty far. Primeau is recent enough except I thought Keith retired from concussions by the time we traded for Wayne.

Both being from Finland, I imagine Backstrom's contract was taken on in order for him to mentor Ortio. Perhaps he'll retire at the end of the year and retain a goalie coaching position.

Great trade for the Flames to clear up some roster space for players that are on the uptick.
Feel bad for my friend, who feels Jones was the best player on the ice. He was so adamant every time Jones got a goal.

I am surprised there wasn't a little more interest in Jones. Not sure how he will fit in Minny, but he seems like a guy that would be useful for a team loading up for a cup run. Some of his best hockey was last year in the playoffs, as he is a big body that can play a power forward game. Maybe his salary was too much to fit under the cap for a few teams.

Apparently Backstrom wants games and more playing time and is hoping to get it next season, Now if that's with the flames has yet to be seen.

If we're bringing in a coach to support a specific goalie it's going to be for Gillies.
Regarding the trade, well done opening up a roster spot and getting a pick in the process.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up benefiting the Wild down the stretch. Jones seemed to turn it up a notch down the playoff stretch last season so if he can do more of the same this season the guy might actually get re-signed to a reasonable contract.

The returns for Jones and Hudler highlight just how bad are the Flames forwards, or at least how bad they are perceived to be around the league.
Our top line winger got a 2nd and a future 4th rounder.
A guy that has played top 6 on and off goes for a 6th rounder and a contract coming back.

Well...yes and no. Jones isnt all that good and has a terrible contract and is a rental and Hudler is also a rental.
So...yeah. Theres also that.
