Tries the same move the Jokinen perfected. Jokinen had the similar speed, but also the reach to get the goalie moving and "open" . Byron doesn't have the reach so the goalie isn't as "open" and Byron is too quick to try and slide it in.
Jokinen tried that about 100 times including shootouts and scored maybe 5 times...ask the NYR
They should've put the Wolf in with the assignemnt of getting in Dubnyk/Minnesota's heads. I'm sure he would've savoured the opportunity. I'm afraid this is a fail on Hartley's part.
Also I hate Dubnyk! He's always played the Flames well, even in Edmonton. It's irritating that he keeps jumping to new opponent teams that we're trying to beat. Wish he would've stayed an obscurity, even though I could tell he was always a decent tender.
The Wild in classic form tonight, clogging up the neutral zone and dumping it back in our end... I quite prefer being in a division with the California teams over them and the Avs. It's simply better hockey.

I really didn't expect this sort of hostile tone to the PGT - checking the box score, that was as dead even a game as you're going to see. The Wild got one break, and it happened to be Parise with the puck - it happens.
Raymond probably had his best game in a month. Byron is a 4th liner PK specialist, and I somehow think Sean Monahan's ledger will balance out before its all said and done.
Great game by Hiller too.
Stajan should've come off earlier for Monahan at the end of the game. That was costly.

Am I the only one who don't think Minnesota is as boring as they used to be? The general perception of that team seems to be that they have always been and will always be the same team they were a bunch of years ago. Granted, I don't watch them a lot, but I thought they played a pretty fast-paced back-and-forth game this time around. To me, this was a pretty good game with a lot of scoring chances for both teams. Both teams could have scored a bunch of goals if the goalies hadn't been so sharp.

Say what you want, but we missed Glencross tonight. Tough to replace that point production.
Thought the Flames played pretty good tonight. Ran into a hot goalie and failed to capitalize on their chances. One bad mistake by Gio early in the game was all it took. These games happen. Thankfully we have Edmonton up next. We haven't had a huge offensive outburst (6,7,8 goals) in a while so I think we're do, and what better team to do it against than the grease?
I dont think it has anything to do with Byrons hands. This is a problem with his awareness and his head. Hes all speed speed. He needs to realize faster when hes clear to take advantage.
That was a tough one to watch. Felt like the Flames just couldn't connect with their passes, and that they were fighting with the puck. Rough loss. On to the next game!
Yep even with loses most of the time we can't be faulted for putting out a hard effort, which is why I love this team so much. Its hard to be too upset, having all those years behind us where the team gives up and puts out pretty bad efforts day in and out.
I thought I was crazy hearing that constant boo coming from near Hrudey and Ball all game. If someone finds that guy/owl and punches it in the mouth, I'll pm you a pizza roll.
"The Wild are an exciting team this year, guys! You clearly don't follow my great team, they play up-tempo" *snoozer 1 zip game vs wild*
