How many games does a hit like that suspend you for?

Good thing we are not in 2011/12. 15 years ago an shoulder to the head was legal. I don't get what your trying to say.

I gotta disagree. Brodie sabotaged Stajan with that pass. I am with Pang on this one, what was Aulie supposed to do?

Since there doesn't appear to be an injury and he got 5 and a game with a lot of time to play, I bet he doesn't get anything further.

1 game max but really the misconduct seems like enough.

Yeah, I don't think the hit was malicious, but it is the hitters responsibility to ensure the head is not the principal point of contact.

I am surprised that none of guys on TV mentioned that.

Probably none, I’d guess. Looked more like a cluster#### than an intent to injure. Stajan did have his head down to find the puck, which might be enough to get Aulie off.

Now, it looked to me like that didn’t make much difference. If Stajan’s head had been up, Aulie would have got him right across the windpipe, which isn’t exactly fair game either. But the Grand Pooh-Bahs of Suspension may give him the benefit of the doubt.

As it shouldn't. The pass by Brodie set Stajan up for a horrible angle and timing, thus setting him up to get demolished.

An elbow to the head was never legal. This is why there was a penalty called ‘Elbowing’.

Now, an elbow to the head was not always penalized, but it was always against the rules.

Not hit him.

I'm a big fan of the open ice hit, and always liked Scott Stevens. Unfortunately, you just can't hit guys like that anymore. The massive body checks just don't exist in today's NHL. Aulie tried to drop his shoulder and avoid his head, but it doesn't matter. Right or wrong, those hits are now illegal.

I meant shoulder. My point is 15 years ago is just as irrelevant as 3 years ago. The rules this season is all that means anything.

Maybe Aulie is still mad about the trade that took him away from the Flames and so he took it out on the only player left in Calgary from the trade.
