Kinda sad to see him (Ron) move on from Coaches Corner. That is Saturday to me, has been for ever and I really think if anything Strombo should have come into the role that they are moving Ron to. Really, Healy is one of the major things wrong with a CBC broadcast. After that there are numerous guys who add great colour and depth to an overall solid experience, I mean CBC playoffs are amazing. Guys like PJ, Simpson, Hrudey, Scott Oak, they all dont detract from the experience for me. Strombo has been a frustrating interviewer at times but his overall portfolio as an interviewer is quite extensive, I just don't how that will translate to coaches corner. I'm choosing to reserve my judgement till I see the new format.

Scott Oake creepily rubbing players legs and asking them the dumbest questions he can think doesn't detract from the experience for you? I would say he is awful at what he does.

Hopefully now that Rogers is running the show we don't have to have Cassie Campbell there as the token female to fill some CBC quota. She is terrible at interviewing, terrible at Color commentary, offers nothing as an analyst and her on air delivery is as stiff as it gets. Perhaps she is fine at womens hockey but even then if I were a fan I would want the best possibly talent working the games, not a woman just because it is women's sport.

Also, it would be nice if Weekes was canned. He brings zero to the table and seems so afraid of criticizing or offending anyone he is stuck with such great insights like shooting is good, the ice is cold, skates are sharp.

"George Stroumboulopoulos will anchor Hockey Night in Canada next season, while Coach's Corner will continue with Ron MacLean and Don Cherry, Rogers announced Monday."

It is funny how MacLean said to Strombouloupoulos, "Don't screw this up! It's a good show."

I wonder if MacLean will flip his pen on his final HNIC telecast this season as host of the show.

How does that compare to Calgary Puck?

Bingo should be hosting HNIC.
Dude, you're all over the place. Settle down.

Too liberal. Too Habbish. Rocking side to side in his chair with Marek.

Awful choice for many reasons. You're going to regret this folks.

At least you can be glad an old fossil like Cherry is gonna be done soon, and new Liberal Stromby is coming in. Many will be happy!!

Good thing the political leanings of HNIC hosts is relevant to their ability of talking hockey.

You're right. It's going to suck not being able to get any objective information on what the Conservative Party is up to during HNiC broadcasts.

I wonder if we'll see an increase in coverage of socialist countries' players?

I like Strombo, I think hes good but he needs to slow down when hes talking and stop interrupting people.

And no one cares that you're a Habs fan. No one. Let it go.

A reduced role for Maclean on HNIC sounds good to me. Strombo will be a hell of lot less dry then Ron always has been. Maclean has become more and more annoying over the years.
Intermission etc will be a much more enjoyable watch for this fan.

8 pages and not a single mention of wallet chains or skinny black jeans. For shame, CP, for shame.

Strombo certainly gets great guests on his show, and while I find his leaning in, and occasionally tendency to monopolize the conversation, irritating, overall, it's a good choice to replace MacLean. I've also found Ron more and more irritating over the past few years, and it's time to bring a fresh voice to HNIC.

My only real point of contention is that Strombo doesn't drink and is a vegan. I'm not sure I want to get my hockey information from someone with such low moral fibre and questionable life choices....
