That enough for you smart ass?
1. So?

2. Fans bitching, whining and spoiling their diapers hardly counts as "criticism"

3. Please show me the other team's lists that prove your statement

Isn't he born December 14th, 1994? Being one of the older players in this draft?

Twenty teams passed on Shinkaruk with their first pick in the draft and two teams other than Calgary passed twice on him. Obviously teams had some question marks about him.

According to the radio broadcast, some one had him ranked in the third round (70s). Idont recall who, but want to say ISS? Included in the report was limited offensive upside apparently.

I am not saying the guy is a bust, and havent done so. Instead some people are so touchy towards the pick they immediately attack any criticism. I sure as #### wont put up with that. It speaks more to the insecurity of the pick in the eyes of those fans than anything else.

So suck it up and save your advocacy for an opposing team's fan

After reading up a bit, I guess so. I originally thought the cut off was Jan 1, but it appears to be Sept 15. While Poirier wouldn't be one of the younger guys in the draft, he would likely be in the oldest 25% or so.

Lol, save it for an opposing teams fan? Sorry am not on here to mindlessly bash other people's fans simply because they cheer for a different club, I'm not 7. I'm here to chat and debate Flames hockey with knowledgable folks, regardless of who they cheer for.

Unreasonable reactions, especially when they are uneducated ones are going to get called out, nothing to do with insecurity of the fans. The only thing the reactions show is that the only thing that is important to those who are massively hating on this pick is how the media reacts, because the most important thing to those folks is avoiding ridicule from other teams uneducated fans who simply regurgitate the crap the panels say. I couldn't care less about that crap.

Detroit got a guy who scored a ton of goals. Mantha > Poirier (as a draft pick).

To be fair, the chances of getting an elite player at 22 are pretty slim.

Poirier was a bit of a reach, but not nearly as much as Jankowski was. The pattern, however, is disturbing.

Uneducated fans are criticizing this pick?

http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=9424

ISS had him ranked 79th. Are you more educated on this player thanthey are? How many games of his have you watched?

Nhlcs had him 39

Hockey news 47

I will admit i havent seen him play, and i suspect most here have not. I also suspect that the reason ISS has him ranked so low is that they have seen him play.

The criticism that the organization takes on this pick is because at least three of the "educated" had him ranked low.

So dont sit there with a couple of you tube clips and a handful of cheetos and call yourself an expert, with those who make their living evaluating the talent and analyzing the sport as "uneducated". Your argument fails on so many levels.

And by the way, i dont mind the kid - he reminds me of Steve Begin from the sounds of it. He will have a place in the league. Opefully he can agitate as well.

How many games of his have you watched, Carlson? Seriously, if you're just going to throw a temper tantrum, go use the thread dedicated to it.

Ottawa sports people love that pick, and they watched him more than just about anyone in this thread I am sure.

Christ, there's enough doom and gloom in real life I wonder why I bother coming here

Everyone team has their own list. No team picks players based on TSN, the Hockey News,ISS or any other list, they go by their own. Every team thinks "we're smarter then everyone else". I'm always blown away this seems to be attributed to Feaster and company lately but oh well.

If a GM is relying on others to do his job, he isn't do it right.

What I think is the bigger story here that people are overlooking is his apparent relation with Vinny. This gives the Flames higher odds on signing Lecavlier when free agency rolls around!
