Plus, some of us are smart enough to buy in bulk in advance, thus saving more money. Sadly, they only sell a handful of decent beers there. I usually stock up on wine there every couple weeks.

Wow, thank you for this groundbreaking piece of advice. You really are smrt.

Thanks.

Here's another helpful tip just for you; put your Black Label in the freezer overnight (usually for a couple days) so it can get extra frosty to enjoy while you tune up your dirtbike

Thank you, another gem!

You take pretentious to a special level.

For what it's worth I enjoy the benefits of home refrigeration as well, I just use the ole root cellar for keeping critters cool until I can get around to the stuffing. (If you know what I mean?)

If you want to pay low prices, you have to go to the big store and hike around and do the work yourself. If you want convenience, go to the place where someone has already taken all the items and put them in a little store and marked them up - for your convenience.
If it's a 3.99 item in the grocery store and it's 8.99 for the same damn small tub of Peanut Butter at a mom and pop's local grocery store in a small community, then you bet I'm not going to pay more to support locally.

If it's 0.20 more for the loaf of bread at the mom and pops operation, I'll likely buy it there over going to Superstore.

Christ, I never once said convenience store. I know and understand the difference. Maybe you meant to quote someone else?

The point I was making was I don't mind paying a little bit more to support local and I almost expect to because they don't have the same purchasing power as a WalMart. However when they try to abuse their clients more then necessary, it really pisses me off that they can't understand they are losing business because it hurts the small community's economy overall.

Case in point is we do our main grocery shopping out of town because the grocers in Hanna are significantly overpriced. We save at least a hundred dollars even in light of the gas and a fast food meal by going to Red Deer for our big shop.

Sorry, man. I wasn't really aiming to rake YOU over the coals so much as the sentiment some people seem to have about this kind of thing. I just went camping last weekend and heard all kinds of bitching about the prices in these little stores and it blows my mind that people don't seem to understand business.

I wasn't accusing you of lacking reason, and I'm sure you have a different opinion of this, being from a small town. When Street Pharmacist made that example, I pretty much pictured some fat white chick from Calgary making a scene over the price of a family pack of Oreo cookies.

My whole point is that it's fine to choose to go somewhere else. Why would you be upset though? They're not tricking you. And I highly doubt they're "abusing people". You're not "entitled" to low prices. Shop somewhere else. That's where I get pissed off. They have an overhead to pay for. I can promise you that they've done more margin calculations than you have to make sure it works and that's where it's at. If they are overcharging, then they'll lose business. Again, who are they abusing???????????????????

Haha! At first I thought to myself "There's no way this guy thinks this is funny!" But then you said "NOT!" and I was totally taken aback. I did not expect that. You sir, are a cauldron of hilarity.

Why yes it is. One of the few times I've been in there, they just happened to have this informative sign near the store.

I couldn't stop laughing when I took the pic. The guy I was with thought I was nuts until I told him the back story.

Maybe Singh can find out why the pop in the Superstore liquor stores is so expensive.
