Nenshi is better qualified than the other two, but he's no saviour. He gets his chance, if he doesn't turn things around, he gets turfed.

My apologies for making a parallel between the last election and this one. If you remember there was a huge push by Kassam to get people out to the polls by offering to driving them, similar to Neshi's offer.
Better qualified is a stretch, but to each their own.

From what I'm hearing, as long as you get there by 8pm you will be able to vote. But the cut off is 8pm on the dot.

One friend of mine, who has never voted in her life, has not only voted but convinced at least 5 other people to vote for Nenshi. If those 5 only convince one other person each, that's 10 votes.
This all started with her seeing my pro Nenshi posts on facebook .

I think a lot will end up showing up. 10 of my friends who didn't have any interest in civic politics are actually going out and voting now. Probably cuz we have have a decent candidate now and we all started paying property taxes.

I suspect that's not the demographic of volunteer you'll get if you call the Nenshi campaign for a ride. Higgins on the other hand...

I volunteered as a Scrutineer this morning.
There was a cute girl with hot pink hair, neck tatoos, face piercings and a gigantic set of breasts barely contained in a low cut shirt working the table where they give you the ballot. It was interesting to see her having a lineup, while the other, older people were wide open.
The returning officer was telling me that you'd see a lot of ethnic people being bussed in in the afternoon, as some candidates use "block voting". I gathered that that wasn't looked very highly upon by the system.
Despite the bukakke of Nenshi around here, I voted for him, as he may reign in the sprawl. But, if that fecher raises taxes, I'll be pissed.

My taxes went up 33% this year. I don't think he will do much worse

So are Mciver and Higgins, why not compare them to Kassam? And for what little it's worth, Kassam backed Higgins.
getting the vote out is standard practice. Bronco didn't do it because he was a shoe in.

It probably had to do with the fact there was a Nenshi youtube video above my original post. The Nenshi lovefest is getting tough to stomach. I can't even make a crappy joke without the zealots going off.

If you're on the fence about Nenshi and his lack of council experience, remember that this guy has been going to council sessions since 2001. He reads many of the reports that are given to council before voting on issues, contrary to some alderman, and has been heavily involved in the civic volunteer driven initiatives like Plan-It.
Personally, I don't see him stumbling around at all as mayor.

Even though I advanced polled last week I've been working on the people I know and only had one turn me down (approx. 40) because he felt that the mayor didn't do anything. He wanted to vote Higgins because he recognizes her. He's 25. What a sad friend I have!!

Don't go in the fire on ice forum then, otherwise you'll come out an oiler fan.

and by nonscientific polling (having met my neighbours in the parking lot of the station) out of three votes we have:
McIvor 1
Nenshi 2
Marr 1
Pashak 2
Therefore I conclude Nenshi and Pashak will get 66% if the vote and win.
