You don't have to read about a dirty canuck prospect. You know exactly what this thread is about. All you have to do is not click on it.

I'm happy to get updates on how Baertschi is doing. It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

the mods have the power to move this thread but I wonder if they can move it all the way to a canucks forum where it belongs now

That seems more mature, and smarter?
I know for a fact there is many people who want to know how he's doing, so I'm doing it. Happy now?

He quit on the Flames.

Now I suppose he should be given a funny new moniker like Tim/Tom?

How about Ben?

Steven?

Bort?

...i'll go

At the very least, shouldn't this be in the Backburner forum? Sven's still a prospect in the AHL. That's where the bulk of that discussion should be, no?

If people don't like the thread they can stay out of it. It's pretty clearly labeled

To be fair, it is labeled as a 'trade' thread, not an all-things-Sven thread. I'm not one to make a big fuss about threads here on CP, nor am I trying to be a pain in the butt, however it is a little weird to have this thread continuing ...

A snippet from an article earlier today on how he's been doing since arriving in Utica.

http://metronews.ca/news/vancouver/1...-utica-comets/

Happy for Sven... seems like the change was what he needed. Not so great for us. Will be happy to see what Calgary turns that 2nd round pick into.

Quote:
LOOKING LIKE THE SVEN BAERTSCHI FROM PORTLAND

It took all of one game for Sven Baertschi to begin to make an impact with the Comets, following a trade from his apparent doghouse in the Calgary Flames organization to the Canucks at the deadline.

Canucks GM Jim Benning said earlier this month he sees the 22-year-old Swiss forward, the 13th overall pick in 2011, as a potential top-six player.

Since coming to Utica, Baertschi has scored five goals and 10 points in nine games. He’s recorded points in all but one of those games.

Funny about that whole change-of-scenery thing.

In moving to Utica, Baertschi was been reunited with Green, who coached him back in Portland of the WHL.

During his junior days, Baertschi ripped up the WHL, with 33 goals and 94 points in 47 games for his final season.

In his last three games, Baertschi has scored four times, having been moved onto a line with Cory Conacher, another trade deadline pick-up, albeit in a minor league deal, and Alex Friesen only two games ago.

“I think he’s feeling a little bit more confident,” said Green. “There’s something to be said about young players and a mindset.

“I’m starting to see the Sven Baertschi I had in Portland.”

Glad to hear. I had a feeling he'd turn it up after the trade. Hopefully he can carve out a nice NHL career.

He's the enemy now. I hope he has no NHL career after not making the Canucks out of camp next season and being waived. Didn't like his entitlement issues and didn't like he held a gun to the Flames head to force a trade. He's a punk with no character. Almost the perfect Vancouver Canuck.

Sounds like never given always earned is "toxic"

Now that he’s got one, it’s up to Baertschi to show that being removed from a toxic situation in the Calgary Flames organization will allow him to fulfil the promise he had as a 13th-overall draft pick out of the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks in 2011.

Hey it got unlocked!

I find it hilarious that they labeled the Flames' system as 'toxic.'

Its like something the Oilers would say: 'If a kid doesnt jump right into the lineup then you're doing it wrong!'

Sure...sorry, but the Flames are pumping out forwards left, right and centre (literally and figuratively) and he had every advantage in the book, if he couldnt beat out allegedly 'less-talented' players then thats not on the Flames.

I feel sorry Gaudreau, Jooris, Granlund, Ferland, Ortio, Poirier, Reinhart and Wolf then, all wasting away in this toxic environment and not getting any opportunities as rookies this year. Oh wait...

Reality is, Baertschi's stock fell drastically and he never showed any of the promise that was in his play in 2012
