So lawrence has been back from injury since mid week and has played 3 games since then. Hes almost sitting a 2.0 ppg for the season now (small sample size)
If he continues that pace and ends the season 2.0 ppg in the USHL, could he fight for a top 3 ranking? Especially because he's the sole center of the bunch.

And?
Just because the Canucks put players on the market doesn't mean they're going to be traded in the next 2 1/2 weeks before the roster freeze. Trades can take months to work out.
And there's been reports of teams showing interest in Coleman and Kadri. But the Flames are telling them they need to make serious offers.

2 ppg in the USHL would absolutely make Lawrence a candidate for the top-3, though it would be hard to say who he would unseat...

Yup
The people on here who whatever calculations on what it takes to move up to the top three in draft pick capital, two late round firsts mean #### all compared to a top three.
We tried with feaster with 6 23 and 28 or whatever and could not.
Move them out. You are paying Huberdeau and Backlund more than enough, their job now is to keep the room professional and show how to be an NHLer, not sulk.
Bomb it out, ####ing ridiculous who wants to watch this team be 24th again, since Gaudreau and Tkachuk have left this has been the worst product I’ve watched since about 1999.

You know what I mean, drafting around 9-14th
Plan how to do it, keep a core of veterans who aren’t very good but to keep up moral, bottom out 3 on the bell curve, draft like 3rd, 1st, 2nd, continue drafting well which is honestly a great strength these days, our seconds are now pretty much late firsts so that really negates taking late firsts for our trades of keeping Kadri and Andersson. It moves all of our picks up.
Imagine just wanting to be okay with being awful, and saying this is acceptable rather that just doing the right thing and building something properly.
How daft does one have to be to see what works and what doesn’t, it’s honestly ####ing ridiculous and I’m so glad to see media like Barnburner all continue to hammer it on, because it’s ####ing ridiculously stupid how easy of a choice this is.

Few tidbits from nhltraderumors:
-James Wilson wrote an article about Blake Coleman, and said that Coles hurt his back so badly in Tampa's last cup run, that he's been dealing with a nagging injury ever since- but this summer is the first time he didn't need injections or major treatment, and it's showing in his play. He links the Leafs, Habs, Hurricanes, Senators, Mammoth and Devils to Coleman if he goes on the market. He also states that it would be easy to see Tampa Bay wanting a reunion.
-Dreger says the Senators are fishing for a forward and a defenseman, but D Carter Yakemchuk is off the table.
-Dave Litman says that the Flyers are looking to make a splash on the trade market, as they are off to a good start with Tocchet at the helm. The only untouchables are Michkov, Foerster, and prospect Porter Martone.
-Jeremy Tingly says the Canucks are in sell mode, and both Connor Garland and Kiefer Sherwood could be dealt. The focus is on Quinn Hughes though, and he names Detroit (Lucas Raymond going the other way, among other pieces) as a player for his services- and of course, New Jersey.
-Bruins' beat writer James Murphy says that the B's will have be cap-creative, but are looking at Sherwood and Garland, as they are just 1 point out of the playoffs.
-Pagnotta said on "The Sheet With Jeff Marek" that the two teams he keeps hearing on the Kadri front are the Habs and........the Panthers. Marek added the Stars as possible suitors.
-Seravalli says that the offers for Kadri will be significant enough that the Flames will have no choice but to trade him. He also says that there's better than a 50/50 chance he gets dealt.
-Free-Agent Robby Fabbri will have an NHL home soon, according to Freidman, but one rumored team- the Sens- are out. It's looking like Detroit, who need depth scoring, and Edmonton, as Fabbri was childhood friends with McDavid. Fabbri can still contribute to a team's PK and PP.
-Pagnotta says the Leafs are interested in Boone Jenner.

I hate the Coleman news that he isn't on the market. But I love the Kadri news that he could be dealt.
Thanks!

They go on any sort of heater and they're mixing it for a playoff spot. It's so ridiculously close at the bottom that any sustained winning can launch you right out of the basement in a hurry.other posters here are right, it takes a certain level of suckage to stay at the bottom of the standings. Flames as they are right now can easily turn it around and go for a mushy middle run.

Three gone to me is the magic number.
Andersson, Kadri, Coleman, Huberdeau, Weegar, Backlund
I still think Coleman is gone at the deadline

Yeah. It would not surprise me if Kadri stays (all those years on the contract), but Coleman staying would be baffling. Veteran two-way player that can score goals, with cup pedigree and two-years on the contract, meaning the buyer can get two runs our of him, and he only has a modified NTC. I would imagine every team on his 10 team list will be interested.

The 10 team trade list has to be a consideration. Coleman has a lot of control there and could have loaded his list with teams that would have no desire or ability to add him. He has young children and might not be in the mood to uproot everyone during the season. There was some discussion when he signed that he was looking for a place to settle down to raise a family.

That would be stupid and very risky. All it takes is for 1 of those teams to make a good enough offer after all. Most likely it just means the family thing is part of the consideration.

The real surprises have come from the backend- Piiparainen, Reid, and Carels are starting to overtake Rudolph on lists for D, then there’s dynamic offensive defensemen like Lin and Villeneuve that could also occupy the top-15. Coming up later in the round are two-way marvels in Gustafsson, Hakansson, and Schairer. Of course, Verhoeff will go in the top-two.
I think to say that this draft is “disappointing” would be way off base. Just my opinion.
|
I take most prognostications with a huge dose of salt. Last years Poor draft fifth rounder wicked wytenbach is leading mckenna in scoring in college which im sure all of us had as a possibility.
This draft is super solid into the second round. Guys like preston, viileneuve, shilov, scherbak, all are in the 15 to 20’s range. A guy like Bjork could easily hit 20’s with a lot of good defencemen in that range. A bunch of the centers are making a push. This is a good draft.
This would be a damn good draft to have Coleman and Andersson both return a first.
