Ah ok, thanks. They should put it as an option on people's accounts.. set your own spending cap limit.

He was on the radio this morning.
Poorly quoted Winston Churchill about never surrendering - apparently he's fighting Virgin all the way. They offered to reduce it down to 2k but he's sure he can push them lower.
Spoken like a true used car salesman?

He should have taken the 2k and run with it.
If I was Virgin, I wouldn't have given him anything.

You are probably the same person that signs up for a 3 year contract with Telus for a free craptop and then complains when they don't let you cancel after 6 months. If you never read fine print and don't know anyone that does you should meet new people.

I learned that I should read these the hard way. I now have a Rogers contract for blackberry but it's actually 2 contracts!! 1 for Data and 1 for regular phone use!
Now if I ever want to cancel or anything I have 2 contracts to pay out. Yaaaaayyyyy!!!!

Seriously?
I always read the fine print. Anyone who doesn't want to get fleeced does the same.

Do you have an ipod touch or iphone that can connect to the itunes store? They change the terms about once a week. Do you read that every time? I think it would take me a week to read the whole thing through.

I don't buy apps from the iTunes store, nor do I buy music from there. But yes I have read the terms at least once.

I don't want to get fleeced, but I still signed the 15 page contract Rogers required me to sign before I left their store. If I was to read the 15 pages it would take me about 3 hours.
I highly doubt more than 2 percent actually read the fine print in a phone contract.

late to the party, but I'll add this.
when i moved to the US and got an ordinary cell phone and rate plan with Sprint, I didn't realise texting wasn't a part of my plan; extra $5 for unlimited texting. First bill had $100 texting charges.
Called Sprint, and they retroactively added texting to my plan, wiping out the $100 charge, leaving just a $5 texting charge.

Yes they do. Every time I enter the States I get a text stating how much data per MB is and how much calling per minute is on my BlackBerry. My plan gives me North America data included in my plan, so this text isn't even for me. TELUS just picks up that my phone is in a foreign market and lets the user know additional charges can be incurred.

If you check around the internet, the charges Europeans pay for roaming vary widely in Europe. Depending on which company, they could be charged upwards of $50/MB for data if they roam outside of the EU. Who knows what company Virgin used and what that company charged them, but it's possible to have that high of a bill for roaming. Also, if the guy expected roaming to be around $1500, he knew that it would be expensive(at least I find $1500 expensive) so it should be up to him to find out what the charges are. Complaining about it later to the media should not get you a reward for stupidity.
