And they could have been 8-4 if the refs didn't give Notre Dame a 2 point convert on a play where they were clearly stopped short (in the final 2 minutes), if they didn't have a blown coverage on a hail mary attempt against Arizona St., and they didn't have a tipped pass INT in the last minute (in FG range, down 1) against UCLA.
And let's not forget that it's the Oregon Ducks we're talking about too. A program that won their first Pac-10 crown ever less than 10 seasons ago. College football is cyclical and Oregon isn't one of those programs that is immune to downswings.

Seriously though, U$C is going to need anyone that is willing to pay their way on the team via walk on. The kid has talent and I'm sure Kitty wont say no to him.

well A bunch of UT players where arrested for beating up a Cop.
Then this morning two UGA players were arrested for underage drinking and the driver got a DUI and hit and run..
Listen to the UGA fans eating crow now and hope to god that Mark Richt kicks the guy off the team asap so they can still try to jump all over UF... LOSER MUTTS

11 ND athletes (mostly football, but also basketball and the hockey goalie) were charged with underage drinking--including Joe Montana's son. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5388648

You've obviously never ben to a US college town, that's about 50% of the job. Pretty ridiculous.

Nate's not the new golden boy though, that title falls to his little brother Nick who will take over for Jake Locker when he graduates next spring.
I doubt that South Bend, IN is a crime riddled town. Underage drinking is probably their largest crime problem...like many medium sized college towns.

South Bend is a massively crime riddled town. It's ND and a mass amount of extremely run down neighborhoods. Last time I was through there we took a wrong turn heading towards campus and wound up in the midst of a couple cop cars dealing with a pretty intense looking domestic stand-off. It's like much of the midwest, pockets of nice affluent areas within very economically depressed areas with major crime issues. I'm not sure how the police jurisdictions work there though. In East Lansing the cops major issue was college kids and the resultant drunken behavior issues, literally across the freeway the Lansing police dealt with a good amount of violent crime. Might be similar in South Bend.
As much as I hate ND I hope this doesn't get turned into a big deal. It's college kids acting like college kids.

Nothing that they were busted for changed what they did on the field.
Did Reggie getting a car make them win games? Did Reggie's parents being flown to road games make them play harder?
I think they should be punished, and I don't believe in punishing the present group for sins of the past, so I guess washing the records away is all you can do. I hate USC with the fire of a thousand suns, but you're really barking up the wrong tree here.

It doesn't change what happened on the field, but it sure as hell may have changed who was actually on the field, which obviously has a massive impact. This wasn't a recruiting violation, but it's a bit of a 'where there's smoke there's fire' situation IMO. It's not as if other programs don't do the same things though, so really it's hard to paint USC any differently.

That's really what I was trying to say, it happens everywhere.
According to Lloyd Lake, everything that happened with Reggie was after he was already at USC. I'm sure there were "benefits" to signing with USC, but this whole investigation had nothing to do with it.
