Can't wait for The Pacific to come out, but it's got some pretty high standards to live up to. Just bought the BoB set on Blu-Ray and watched it again. What a masterpiece.

I'm pretty fired up for The Pacific, loved BOB. First time I ever liked the movie/series more than the book(though I saw the series first, so when I read the book I knew exactly what was gonna happen).

I can not wait for this. In fact I watched the Marathon over the weekend, even got the girl I am currently seeing to watch the first few episodes with me.

I tend to disagree about the best thing ever. There are better things, only a few of them can be posted but this is one of them.

Just IMO of course from a young white male.

In the LA Times today, a look at the actors in Band of Brothers and their annual reunions.

After the relatively disappointing Pacific, I'd rather they just let it be.

it would help if it were a war that they won. Also everyone could really get behind the american cause in WW2 and the Vietnam isn't a very popular thing among the american public to this day.

What the f***? It is no where near Star Wars Episode 1 bad.

It was still pretty good (this coming from someone who was one of people most disappointed with it) series, it just was always and will always be compared to Band of Brothers which is one of the best things ever put on film.

I would say BoB is a 10/10, Pacific about a 6.5/10.

I'd love to see a high-quality Speilberg/Hanks production tackled from more non-American sides of war....for instance the Russians during Stalingrad, or Central Powers during WW1.

I didn't even finish watching the Pacific. The characters had nowhere near the appeal like in Band of Brothers.

Same here, I watched the first 3-4 episodes and found myself thinking "you know, I just don't care about these characters either way"

I don't care if it's racist but all those white guys looked the same to me. hehe It took me close to 10 months to watch the entire thing.

I will say, I never did watch episode 10 and I still haven't. I glanced when it was on tv and it was all 'aftermath' and I really didn't give a crap about the characters so I didn't watch it.

I think one of the best things about BoB was the very end where you found out what happened to all the guys from 'E' Company. I wanted to know what happened to all of them, Pacific never made me care about anyone. The action was insane though.

You gave up literally one episode too early. 1-4 was mostly just setting up everything, from 5 on was mostly just action. I understand why you gave up where you did though, 3-4 were bad, especially 3 (think that's the Australia one). Bunch of over-romantic junk that episode.

It's no BOB, but it gets a lot better pretty much right where you left off. Some of the big battle scenes from ep 6 or so on are far superior to any of the battles in BOB, great production value.

I really enjoyed both Band of Brothers and the Pacific. Bought both series on Blu-Ray, watched them all in short order, and would recommend them to anyone.

Which would make for fascinating television viewing, watching the horrors of war through the soldiers eye's in a cause that many did not believe in.

Never got thru the Pacific either. Got to episode 4 or 5 and gave up. I'm sure if it airs again on HBO I'll PVR them and get thru it. Just didn't really jump out at me the first time.

If you haven't already check out Enemy at the Gates. Not perfect but an interesting look at the Soviets vs the Nazi's in Stalingrad in WWII. Mostly a cat and mouse sniper movie but pretty decent.
