Overall, a good night for team tank!

I'm just going to ignore Dumbo Murray Edwards vision for the team for one night and be happy with the loss.

Oh, is that how the Oilers got to be so great when they rebuilt after the 2007 teardown?

You build the culture FIRST, then the winning follows. Winning is a function of having the talent + doing the right things to make that talent produce results. It's the ‘doing the right thing’ part that has to be passed along by example from player to player.

Either that, or you know, there's no such thing as culture and Connor McDavid won the Stanley Cup as a rookie because he's so gosh-darned talented and that's all there is to the game.
Explain to me then, exactly which times did the Flames have a good culture and which times did they not have a good culture? And if you think they have a good culture now, how do they upgrade their talent and become a contender without endangering the culture?

This slow start is a godsend. It might trigger the fire sale we need in order to bottom out and have a legit shot at McKenna and Dupont over the next two drafts. Not to mention the glut of picks we'll have if they perform that much needed fire sale.

Don’t even need the glut of picks from a fire sale (nor are you likely to get a glut of picks if you perform a fire sale).

Hopefully they regroup and win on Sunday.

A win is meaningless in the current state of the team

And a rebuild is much needed. Need lots of quality picks and of course luck

You would not get a lot of picks from a fire sale, that is the point.

Yes they would. Maybe not quality lottery picks but they sure can get lots of picks and with luck it’s better than holding on to old vets that are no part of the future

No they would not unless the english definition of the phrase “fire sale” has changed.

I don’t know what you are talking about

They sure will get tons of picks for Kadri, Andersson, Coleman, Weegar and maybe a few others

I know you don’t know what I am talking about, don’t know how I can make it much clearer though.

A ‘fire sale’ is when everything is sold at a huge discount.

That’s usually not the definition in sports as teams would compete for available quality players

Good thing is this team might be bad enough to get last without making a trade.

Perhaps this fan base can’t stomach an actual rebuild if we’ve lost the stomach for it so soon.
This is what a bad season is. Get used to it
It's more the fear that this team will start winning just when it's impossible to make the playoffs.

We will be in last and rip off 10 in a row in December and still miss the playoffs

I just wanted to say to those that think this system is the worst ever - Geoff Ward. The only Flames hockey I would turn off regularly. I can take the losses. Just move on to the next game. The wins are great too. That usually means a real effort from the team. I really can't get wound up either way.

The people cheering for wins at this point are not smart. You're basically cheering for us to never get better.
