For sure. Though I would use Macleod and Center rather than Deerfoot.

Nobody wants the SE or NE . . .

Varsity is a good recommendation if you really value close access to UofC and there are some great places close to Varanger park. Rosemont is close to the University and Kensington also close to Cambrian and Confederation park.

I grew up in Lake Bonavista in the 70’s and it was glorious. I now live in Parkland steps from Fish Creek. It works for me as it’s quiet and has limited access so it’s not used as a driving shortcut .
IMO Fish Creek > Nose Hill by a vast margin.
Good luck finding a place.

I grew up in the inner city, and I would do that again too, but happy to go to the "outer core" for a balance of urban and nature access as I approach middle age.

oh #### dude, it's not even close.

Nose Hill = wind swept mound covered in dog poo and dead grass

Fish Creek = trees, rivers, nude beach, hiking trials, biking trails etc, etc, etc,

Well this has been both informative and highly entertaining. And no we did not consult any online articles for Neighborhood rankings or awards to form our list.

I am still partial to the southern communities on my list but we will make a point of at least viewing one home in Varsity and drive around there a bit to get a better first hand impression. At the very least I think I have determined that all 4 are very nice places to be which is good!

I just laugh when I see all of the "I'd never live south of Glenmore" posts. It's the wrong boundary for the southern edge, but it's also great. Leave the prime areas for the rest of us.

The nudists routinely ride around naked on their bikes as well from what I have heard.

Anyone who say's gridlock on Deerfoot in the south is bad, clearly has driven Deerfoot anywhere north of 32nd Ave. What a colossal cluster ####.
The Deerfoot trail improvements should help a lot if they ever happen, hopefully.

There’s also Riverbend, Quarry Park and even Douglasdale/Glen. I like parts of Dover as well as it’s quite central with good access if you’re working in Highfield Park.

No, I know. You said that you'd live in Bayview/Oakridge, which is south of Glenmore and I was agreeing with you (surprising as that might be!)

I grew up in Canyon Meadows and you haven't lived until you've experienced the hidden gem in the middle of the community - Babbling Brook Park. The NW can't hold a candle to that.

To be even more precise, you could say I grew up in Babbling Brook.

We now have a natural space behind our house and it's great to see the kids playing and exploring back there... Great memories being made.

Love it. I'll never live North of Glenmore, those guys can keep their wind and bad drivers

Also a nude beach in the Weaselhead I stumbled upon while walking my dog .... the regular Weaselhead scenery was much better.

Ah I see. Usually I'm a lightning rod for most posters on the board, so I immediate go into defensive mode

I used to think Rosedale was the whitest neighborhood in town. Up until grade seven when I switched over to Rundle College, I don't think I'd ever met a Muslim kid. Then going to Crescent Heights for high school, I met a host of ethnicities for the first time. It really was a culture shock.

Rosedale was a caucasian bubble. That was one of the reasons my parents pulled me out of Rosedale and into Rundle: the neighbourhood could feel really narrow and provincial.

If I could live in a house somewhere in Calgary and money wasn't a concern, I'd pick Lakeview. Out of the way and quiet but still close to literally everything; next to the reservoir and North Glenmore Park and the Weaselhead; lots and lots of rec options around there; amenities all around; easy to get onto major arteries if need be, and the homes / residential roads.... my god. Absolutely gorgeous.
