Why not just do it in four, then?

Screw that.

If I had my way every Canadian based team would miss the playoffs altogether, except for the Flames.
I don't have any hatred towards the other Canadian teams, but Edmonton is a different story, closely followed by Vancouver.

I could easily cheer for the Sens or Jets (largely ambivalent towards both teams), Leafs (lovable losers), and Habs (traditionally exceptional franchise), but never the Oilers or Canucks.

It's the rivalry. Canucks pissed me off for the Sedin years so badly that I just could never stomach seeing them have success. Why would I hate to see the Oilers win? Jesus...how long do you have?

Any self-respecting Flames fan could N-E-V-E-R cheer for the Oilers, especially not after just losing a playoff series to them, and especially not when our team had a good chance of going to the cup finals. Never in a million years.

If you asked me what I would would rather see:

1) Oilers win the cup this year.

2) Tampa Bay threepeats this year, cementing their team as a dynasty.

I'm taking #2 about a billion times before I would ever consider #1...and I fuuuuuuuuucking hate the Lightning. That's how much I hate the Oilers. I expect all other Flames fans to feel the same way.

^ agree with the last statement

One divergence on the Leafs. It’d be nice as the team is kind of likeable now with Gio and Brodie, but man, their fans and the media would be ####ing unbearable

You're absolutely right, but I could live with it. Besides, who besides Flames fans have suffered more than Leafs fans? They've earned a little success.

Exactly!

If the oilers won the cup, the whole country will get more mcdavid forced down their throats by the media for the next decade. That would be a bleak future.

My oldest said that it's okay to cheer for the Oilers because they’re in Alberta.

I disowned her.

Damn. Sorry man, that's rough.

You do everything you can to set them on the right path, then it's out of your hands.

Only because you asked, but the Canucks have a terrible history as they've never won the cup or had much any success since they came into the league

I really hate the Avs. This is the only match up in which I’d cheer for them.

Avs in 4.

Based on the game management in first 2 series Flames were on no doubt that will continue and oilers will get a win so I say Avs in 5.

If game management did not occur should be Avs in 4

McPowerplay and Pissy will steal a game, and I want the loss to happen on home ice.

Is Avs in 4 feasible? I’m trying not to overestimate them in my hatred for the Oilers. If the Oil can keep up with the secondary scoring as well with Hyman and Kane then I think they win at least a couple (barf).

Throw in wildcard Smith though, I sure do hope it’s a short series to crush Oil fans

Like last series I will say the Oilers opponent in six, but hope for the best.

Colorado is a step up from Calgary. Edmonton doesn't match up on paper.

Edmonton does have some guys on petty crazy heaters though. Hopefully it allows them to pull through.

Should be an entertaining series either way.

NHL's two marquee players in one series? I'm sure the NHL will manage their way to make this series as long as possible.

I maintain that the Oilers don't deserve McDavid. I hope they realize this themselves. Just think about how awfully and incompetently run your team was until that point and even since then.

Organization is run by a bunch of washed up graying former players that are still high on #### they did 40 years ago trying to capitalize on the best talent of his decade that happened to fall in their laps by pure luck/chance.

The Oilers also deserve to be punished for giving Kane a contract immediately after getting out of the sharks investigation.

No shame, no spine. Willing to make deals with the devil just to get anywhere near a sniff at glory. Everything about it is so pathetic.

Smith is such a little #### and deserves to be blown out. You just know he's in it for himself given how quickly he throws teammates under the bus.

Lets in a ####damn flipper from 200 feet and has the audacity to raise his arms at the guys on the ice. Wtf! Lol.

So much stench.

Thanks for not being a complete piece of crap like some of the other Oiler fans (closeted or otherwise) on here.

Fair take. On paper this isn't close but you're absolutely right with guys on heaters. Edmonton has shown this year they can hang with the best or worst teams for large stretches of time. What teams shows up? I'm hoping its the later and the Avs make quick work of em!

I bought an Avs T-shirt at pro hockey life today. They only had two left. Guy said there has been a run on Avs gear the last few days.
