He hasn’t been good independent of Gio’s mistakes. And playing with Gio has compounded it.

Yeah would have been interesting to see how they would have said the team wasn’t awful tonight.
I’ve always like Loubo. The problem is, if he doesn’t toe the company line, he’ll be out of a job.

Sports broadcasting jobs are being reduced overall. Hence, I can understand why he speaks the way he does.

There can’t be a more sanctimonious windbag than Loubardias, guy is exhausting.

Maddening.
David Rittich looked good against the Leafs. Certainly not the skaters in front of him.

Well if they’re not going to fire the GM and coach, they damn well should sit several veterans and strip the C and As from those same veterans.

They need to do something major in order to shake it up and save this season

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Just when I came in. Left at 4-1.

What I saw was awful. What I didn't see appears to have been worse.

This coach needs to go and the team needs a coach with some drive to kick 'em in the butt and get them going on an offensive, aggressive, hard-charging game. (Think about the PK vs Leafs - that's how they operated and it was excellent!)

Ward =
Tre =

This is not good.

So overblown.

They were good but not great in game 1. Subpar for the last 40 of game 2.

I didn't enjoy very much of those two games either. If that's the Flames playing "really good" then I think I'll pass on more, if that is what they're striving for.

Edit: What I'm looking for as a fan is more of games 2 and 3 against the Canucks, and the last two periods of that first game against the Oilers. Whatever they had going on early against their rivals, that is what I'm looking for from this team. Far cry from this current style of hockey....whatever this is.

These suggestions will likely make things worse.

So glad living on the west coast makes it practically impossible for me to watch most of the games live. I can just look at the score and say, nope, not doing it.

Does the score pretty much tell the story again?

It was as unbearable as you are probably thinking it was.

Exactly. Plus, playing a team without some key players out of the lineup. (Muzzin , Anderson, Simmonds, Hyman for one game etc). Let’s go further, yes they played the Stars to 6 games in the playoffs. However they got to the playoffs by playing a Jets team who were without Scheflie and Laine.

Love how Steinberg is being honest during this radio segment. Good for you Pat!

Yeah, at the very start of the season I was actually excited by how the team was looking. They looked fast with excellent passing and possession play. They were looking good and playing a more entertaining game.

It has really gone down hill.

Yeah. It's tough sledding right now for out of work broadcasters. I'm not a Loubardias fan at all but he clearly has to bite his tongue here as the last two color guys got let go for not towing the line. I believe both he and Wills are homers but even if the losing gets to them they have to remain positive. Peter Maher would always keep saying the Flames are in it until they were mathematically eliminated in bad seasons. It's part of the job so I get it.

Me too, and I wrote a non-facetious post about it, I thought this was going to be the best Flames team we've seen in a while. And it just... died.

Always somehow less than the sum of their parts.

Which is why we look in the direction of the coaching, but who knows.
