Tavares to SJ gonna happen I think. Division is up for grabs and they have got the money.

Also I wonder how that feels for Hoffman. Sens tell you you have been traded to SJ then a couple hours later SJ is like...yeah we do not want you on our team. We traded to FLA.

Not sure that's how it really happened. It was so quick that everyone likely knew it was a 3 way deal. I doubt they told Hoffman he was going to San Jose.

My guess, he feels pretty good.
Gets to move down to Florida, play where no one will recognize him, on a team that barely missed the playoffs. And, to top it off, no income tax so he'll get even richer.

Doesn't Hoffman have a NTC? I thought he vetoed a trade to WPG at the deadline. SJS doesn't do the deal unless Hoffman's already agreed to go to FLA.

He has a 10 team NTC.

Fla may not be on it.

Pretty safe bet that the three California teams and two Florida teams aren't on many (or any) no-trade lists.

I will take that bet. I think this move is to clear money to sign Kovalchuk. I don't think JT has any interest in a Western team.

I had a feeling Hoffman would end up in Florida. Even still, it bugs me that he's not a Flame

Darn it. In my opinion, Boedker scores points inconsistently because he’s good on the PP but not very good elsewhere. I think the top 6 winger we need just went for a very affordable price twice under our noses. I hope we hear Treliving wanted Hoffman and made an offer for him. I’m starting to think Stone plus might’ve actually gotten that done. Although, maybe they wanted forwards or the NTC included Calgary.

Good for the Sharks. Good for Florida. I wish the Flames would’ve got Hoffman.

Lots of hub bub out there talking about "ditch her, save your career"...but if this stuff is true, she's sick and she needs help. That's not someone you abandon, especially when you're engaged to and in love with that person.
I hate that mental illness is being used to excuse being a terrible person more and more these days.

If the allegations are true, she is a horrible person who thinks for herself and isn't shy from harming others. Until she's evaluated, mental illness is just an excuse to draw sympathy for being caught doing something moronic.

If we keep excusing everything on mental illness, she is the kind of person who becomes the disease' face. When that happens, sympathy dissipates very quickly from a place it's very much warranted.

The only forwards at all similar to Boedker are Frolik and Brouwer. Both have modified NTCs.

I'm 100% good with the Flames not getting Hoffman.
This isn't about a team being overly focused on "high character guys" but rather having some sort of bar for who you are willing to bring into your dressing room.
While the allegations against Hoffman's g/f are just those - allegations - you simply can't ignore the risks he presents, or the fact that the Sens locker room seems in shambles.
I don't think he's worth the risk. Could end up being a great value pick up for the Panthers, but I'm good with the Flames choosing not to take on that risk.

This is an overstated thing in any event. Brouwer wasn't brought in because of his character, he was brought in because he was a very consistent 20 goal man. Character/leadership were things that Treliving mentioned as additional positives. I can't recall any player that the Flames have acquired where character was singled out as the most important aspect (and relatively few that it was even mentioned).

If that's the kind of hockey lifestyle he's into, I'm triple-glad he isn't a Flame.

FLA isn't pegged to win the cup anytime soon.

His scoring touch would have been nice, but we really need a right shot forward otherwise our powerplay is going to continue to flounder.

good luck attracting UFAs with the tire fire going on there. Aquiring players via trade will be easier for them.

30 point players will sign anywhere for $4 million dollars.

The Oilers landed Benoit Pouliot with just such an enticing offer.
