Sweet hit by Ferland, followed by some Johnny magic, and a wicked shot by Hamilton to finish it off. Good stuff!

Wow, what a play by Ferland to get the puck back and then Johnny with an elite pass that is just out of reach of the Canes back checker to Dougie...

A great first period for the flames. The flames seem to better at getting up for the gmae at the moment.

I like Bennett's defensive game at C, he's just gotta figure out how to generate offense at C.

His offensive game is just suited more for the wing. He doesn't have a great shot, not the best play maker, but is great at driving lanes. Unfortunately it's harder for him to drive it to the net at centre. I don't see him ever becoming a real playmaker, so he needs to improve his shot to become a bigger threat at C in my opinion.

Excellent road period by the Flames, and they're cashing in on their opportunities. It's been a long trip, so hopefully they still have enough left in the tank for the next 40 minutes. So far so good!

Agreed.
Got a lot to do with confidence which is derived from doing things right over and over again.

Yeah there's definitely something missing at C.
But at the very least, he can be a solid fill-in that's not going to hurt the team in a situation like today. IMO if he spends any significant time at C he should really study how Backlund plays to become a better puck manager. A lot of Backlund's 5v5 offense comes from being responsible with the puck and taking the easy, safe play, whereas Bennett's trying to score immediately on every play.

This is what player development looks like at the NHL level. Lazar has quietly (except for me annoying trying to point it out at every opportunity) put together a stretch of effective 4th line hockey. Small gains in a limited role is the reality of development for a player like Lazar.
Stick with him, show him patience, and we’re going to get a good bottom 6 forward. Add in the fact that he’s outwardly a good kid, and we have the makings of a guy who could be around for a long time.

Good to see they are kicking butt as expected, watched the replays in first and second and those are some nice plays especially Lazar on the first one, all that hustle paying off is nice to see. It has only just begun. Hard work always pays off eventually if you keep at it.
