Over a 3-year sample that's also highly inconsistent; it goes both ways.

...it's inconsistent because it's a 3 year sample.

The other prospects aren't ready.
The Flames have had weak drafting and development for decades. It's too early to tell if they've turned it around under Treliving. He seems willing to give young players a chance to crack the NHL roster. They just haven't seized the opportunity because they're not good enough.

We're going to have to disagree on this. Players do not step right in from he minors and make a huge impact. Most players need two or three seasons in the NHL to find their stride, and this is the same for a player coming up from the minors. See Michael Ferland. The Flames are terrible at working players from the minors in and setting them up for success. Players with potential are brought up, play a game, then sit in the press box behind some failing veteran, then dispatched to the minors. Instead of watching a young player learn from the mistakes he makes, we see a veteran make the same mistakes and never learn anything. These guys the longer the transition period. Bring them up, play them in a consistent way (one game in, one game out) as they learn the NHL game.

So you cannot say that 67% is a good record when the sample is 3-years; statistics travel in two directions.

Hopefully they bring him back. I don't see why they wouldn't have just made the move already if they were not going to bring him back.
The expansion draft, and the prospect draft are two pretty important dates that are coming up quickly.
If they didn't have any faith in Treliving why wouldn't they have made the change back in the fall when this news first popped up, and then had their new GM in place to lead them through the trade deadline, and be able to prepare for the two drafts.

But then how can you blame him for being inconsistent?
In June of 2014, who on this forum would be upset if we were told the Flames would make the playoffs in 2 of the next 3 seasons?

Roger Millions @RogMillions
Enough. It's high time GM Brad Treliving's contract is extended. Not to do this quickly would be utterly ridiculous. #Flames

I'm amazed it has taken this long regardless of policy. He would be snapped up in less than a heart beat. Re-Sign now.

Plus they are clearly trending in the right direction.
I'm gonna lose my #### if Treliving isn't back.

From the Murray/Bylsma thread:
I would be shocked, surprised and gobsmacked if Burkie and Treliving are not back next year.
The team is trending in the right direction, and is getting better. There will not be a change for change sake, in my opinion.

Replacing Treliving with Craig Conroy would be full Oiler...

Because not all of his results are playoff related.
Brouwer, Elliot, cheaping out on Bishop and losing Byron are big reasons for what happened yesterday.

At least Conroy has shown some semblance of working towards the position.

Cheaping out on Bishop? That would have cost of Tkachuk.
And Bishop was WORSE than Elliott this season. And we'd have been stuck with him for 6 more years.
And as much as I liked Byron, 28 other GMs passed on him. Montreal picked him up literally last on the waiver wire. And nobody could have predicted he would become a 20 goal scorer.

I kinda doubt it, Burke has said that he has the best job in hockey.

This love affair with Bishop is ludicrous.
Bishop is firmly in the same tier as Elliot. One can be had for super cheap now while the other will cost an arm and a leg.

Wouldn't full Oiler be bringing in Lanny to run the show?
