Reimer is my preferred option, if you need to bring in a proven backup like Enroth to help take a bigger part of the load.
55-60 games or so for Reimer, Enroth gets the other 20 or so games and hopefully they can provide solid goaltending for us.

I'm not understanding why we would pay Reimer 1.5-2m more to play marginally better than Ramo.

Sounds plausible.

I wouldn't even give a second rounder for Fluery. That's ridiculous! For Anderson, he just looks like another Hiller. That's why the Ducks were so happy to give him to the Leafs. Frickin just pure dumb overpayment for a backup goalie!
Here's what Treliving should say to Rutherford, "We'll gladly take Murray off your hands for a 3rd rounder".

Well I'm not understanding why we would trade assets and pay significantly more for Fleury when he's worse than Reimer.

Because his stats are much better than Ramos - and he probably only gets around $4M as a UFA.
Over the last two seasons he has better numbers than Andersen, is very comparable to Fleury, and is just behind Bishop/Elliot.
Considering he is the easiest to acquire, and since he is just coming into his prime as a goalie (28), he makes the most sense to give a shot IMO.
Honestly if Burke's (and other management employees) comments about Home Plate, 5v5, and advanced save percentage are true then I don't see how Reimer isn't the guy. He is very good in all those areas, and is the only goalie that can be had for no cost.

Reimer's combined (between SJ and TO) sv% last year was over .920
Ramo's was .909
Not saying Reimer should be the guy, but that's hardly marginal

I read somewhere that Reimer and Ramo are hoping to sign with the same team and be known as goalie tandem ' Team RamRod' (e6)

Many seem to be having a serious case of 2 AM blindness. The goaltending was so atrocious last year that now we're sitting here and everyone looks so good. Just because we were saddled with a 3 for a year doesn't mean we should be so damn excited for a Kansas 7.

|
I seriously doubt you read that anywhere. All the reports since he was injured have projected his return in Sept/Oct, and Treliving in his interview last week informed that Ramo is progressing ahead of schedule.

EDIT: NM not worth the hassle.
In any case, I'd seriously have to reconsider watching Flames hockey for the year if they resorted back to Ramo. Just no....

Yeah, I concur.
Honestly the only significant benefit that "not-Reimer" provides is that it would offer up an opportunity to divest ourselves of a poor value contract at the same time. Frankly, there is no way I want the Flames to eat all 5.75M of Fluery's contract without sending some non-essential dollars back (Raymond would be the best fit).

I really hope Treliving doesn't overspend trying to land 3yrs of Fleury or a 1yr rental of Bishop. Flames aren't in "win now mode", our core is still really young and we can wait a few years before we start giving away our picks and prospects in trades. Besides, I have a feeling a few more goalies will start to shake loose as we get closer to the expansion draft. It could be a real buyers market for goalies at the deadline this year.
Reimer would be a much better option for us now.

I'm more worried about the term than salary with Reimer.
I got no real problem with the idea of hitching the wagon to him, in the short term,

Fleury is one of the more overrated goaltenders in the NHL, IMO. One of those guys that tends to choke at the worst possible time.

Marginally better than post knee being blown out Ramo? You really think Treliving is even entertaining the gamble of going back to a duo that failed them last season? I don't.
