I hate to be this guy, but the Flames rode a third string goalie on another team for 70+ games a season for over a decade...
(But then Calgary could never aspire to the lofty depths the Oilers have plumbed)

Kevin Klein is rumored potentially to be a name on the move in New York as well. The Oilers might be looking at Talbot + Klein in a packaged deal.

I wouldn't be surprised. If looking at one goalie, should pay attention to all in the market.

Klein is the type of player the Flames should be looking at. Solid player on a decent contract.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Besides the team he played on....I've always like Cam Talbot.
Please please don't go to Edmonton. It'd be disappointing to hate you.

Friedman on 960 said he doesn't see the Oilers trading 16th OA for Talbot, but could see a team offer a later 1st or early 2nd for Talbot.

Did some reading up on Lehner. His season was sidetracked a fair bit by concussion issues following a collision with MacArthur that put them both out for a while and it sounds like he was still dealing with the affects at the end of the season.
Could be a good risk to take if he rebounds healthy and gets some momentum going next year. Could also lower the price a bit for an interested team.

The Senators will probably also want to package David Legwand's contract into the deal.

Bryan Murray said that David Legwand or Colin Greening would go back the other way in a Lehner deal to free up cap space.

I could Stomach Legwand. Last year of a 3m cap hit? Completely feasible. If I am not mistaken, he's a solid F/O guy too which is something the Flames can always use.

I just looked at his last years face off stats because I had the same thought. Abysmal describes his face off stats.

Legwands awful in the face-off dot. Langkow bad.
I would be OK with taking either but I think Greening is a better fit. Big guy who can skate. Dollers on his contract aren't very good but the term is short. If he gets hot you can ride him with offensive guys and put him in front of the net on the PP, if he gets cold he is a better fit in the bottom 6 than Raymond and is no stranger to being in the press box.

Not only that, but he's on a pretty sweet deal for what he brings. $2.9 cap hit for 3 more seasons.
He'd be a really nice upgrade to Engelland as a RHD on the third pairing.
