This forum may once have been a place where the owner and the mods made decisions based on honest ethics and principles and the desire to provide a great place for sports fans to come together, but with this amount of money involved, things like the YLYL thread going away are likely happening to try and reach new demographics to increase revenue.

I can't say any of this is certain or true, but when significant amounts money are involved, I have a hard time believing that the decisions are genuinely made for the benefit of society and not for the benefit of the owners' pockets.

Obviously if I had a huge issue with it, I wouldn't be a member here and I am completely on board with the forum making money any way it can. I just don't buy all the cuddly crap and and I get a good chuckle at it because I feel money is corrupting the genuine nature of the recent decisions.
9 month rollercoaster up in here.

Forums don't generate profit. Ads help pay server costs.

UCB, it's a lot of money where a lot of the benefit and content for CP members is provided by the members, not the owners.

Well obviously everyone on CP makes 6 figures so it's only logical for CP itself to generate a 6 figure income.

First let me be clear, I don't believe your numbers.

Second if you numbers are correct good for Bingo.

Third if you don't like it create a rival to CP. If you are to be believed it should be profitable, as many on here don't like what is happening on the site.

Fourth, profit?

I believe you have missed the point of my post. I didn't realize posting information about how things are done Ina similar league meant I supported or condoned the matter at hand. Or that I support the fact that Russian men abuse women because I show that in the KHL, they have this as a form of in game entertainment.

I also don't need to be told about the struggles of a female, especially with regards to domestic violence.

I didn't say I didn't like it.

Bwahahahahahaaaa!!!

Advertising on forums and advertising on a regular site with the same traffic is like comparing apples and dishwashers. Sure a forum generates lots of hits, but it's the same small group of people over and over.

He's not telling all CP members we don't need them, he's telling one CP member that can't understand he's walking uninvited into someone else's house and complaining about the carpet. I would say and Bingo I'm sure would agree, that we don't want posters who can't abide by the rules without complaining about them.

*more laughter*

Incorrect premises lead to incorrect conclusions. Search all the threads in the mod area discussing rule changes, and you'll never find any of them concerned one iota with trying to change the rules to increase increase revenue. Bingo's not ever handed down a directive to change how things are done to serve driving revenue.

I can say for certain that the narrative you've imagined it isn't true. Or are you saying I'm lying?

Well your feelings are wrong. All the discussions about any rule changes and policy changes involved people who get exactly $0. The mods and admins are all volunteers who do it because they see value in the site and community.

I do find it quite interesting that the first person in the thread to say that people were overreacting and acting offended was actually the first person to act offended and overreact accordingly.

Perhaps the question should be posed the other way: Can't a group of people have a conversation regarding the morality of certain things without someone coming in and screaming bloody murder about things being too PC? It's just a conversation. Both sides should be presented, but it doesn't help anyone to call the "other" side ridiculous or to grossly exaggerate the conversation being had to fit your own agenda.

I'm not sensing any moments where people were offended before the anti-PC crowd interjected with how offended people were, nor any moment where anybody had to walk on egg shells to remain appropriate until someone came in and talked about how important it was to walk on egg shells.

I certainly don't feel like the idea of the F&I girls are sexist or wrong and while plenty of people had differing opinions, at no point didn't I feel that anyone was making an affront to my opinion or acting "too PC."

If you feel like you have to walk on egg shells now it is probably because in the past you said a lot of stuff that was inappropriate and/or offensive.

So if guys like that are having to tread more carefully. Good.
