Then there was the mental errors where we were constantly turning over the puck and giving the Stars a lot of odd man breaks.
We didn't forecheck like we can and never put any pressure on the Stars defence.
Baertschi plays like he has no confidence in his game. It was sad to see him looking pass all the way when he was streaking down the left side in the last minute of the second period. He should have put his head down and fired one on the net. I'm beginning to think that Bart needs to spend some time in Abby to get his confidence back.
Bruins are probably regretting they traded away Seguin.

There is no regrets in sports... you need to stand by your choices, and move forward. So, I don't think the Bruins regret anything. Seguin is a good player but didn't fit into their identity as a team. Plus with Bergeron and Kreji, Seguin would have been lost playing on the 3rd line. It would be like Staal in Pittsburgh. Having a $7 million 3rd line center seems like a waste of money.
My opinion anyways. Although, it would've been nice if Calgary would've took a run at him.

I don't get how people continue to dish out large sums of money on this organization, yet the Stampeders put out a hell of a product and have trouble filling the joint. The Saddledome was quite empty in lots of areas. Glad that some people are refusing to attend.

It was my first game in a number of years. My expectations seem to be different from yours. I wasn't surprised by the result due to the fact we are in a rebuilding phase and expect we may see a few more stinkers before the season is over. That however doesn't mean I would never go to another game. They had an off night and when they are playing like they should the team is exciting to watch.

I'm pretty sure they've done their math. Sold out arena at lower ticket prices doesn't necessarily mean more profit. Also, sports tickets are kind of like sports cars in that demand actually decreases if the price is lower (the idea that the product is now inferior to what it once was).

You are probably right. Seguin fits in well with the Stars team and their system. As a fan of the game it was a treat to see him put up the numbers he did tonight.

Looking forward to watching this one again on pvr. Not often a guy gets 4 goals in a game!

True, but it's also not often a team drafts 3 first over-all picks in a row and still manages to not get out of the basement.
I think your "amazing oilers" are quite a bit more amazing than the 4 goal thing.

Well my original post was about being turned off by a team with some of the highest prices in the league and one of the lowest payrolls. That is how I feel and lucky for me I am free to do whatever I wish with my money.

Twice as many goals as the entire oilers team has on home ice in the last 5 weeks. FACT

Oiler fans are used to milestones. How many goals in the last 3 home games?

When was the last time the Oilers as a team scored 4 goals in a game?

I noted 3 goals the Stars scored that were at least partially due to terrible Flames line changes.

Dear god no. Do you not remember the 9-0 or 9-1 scores when he was coaching? 9 game losing streaks?
At least we know it's not Iginla setting a bad example and not backchecking. The Flames could really use Glencross and Giordano back in the lineup.
I'm blaming Smid.

You have to give amazing oilers credit here.
The entire NHL is making fun of his team, and he comes to a rival board and every post gets repeatedly owned and made fun of, and he keeps coming back for more. Like the kid on the playground with a bloody nose and dirty face who keeps smiling at the bullies and says he likes it.
It's more than you can say for the usual Oilers lemmings who haven't so much as popped in to say hi.

I will never understand the need some people have for going to a rival's board and start trolling.
I love some of the Oiler and Vancouver posters (and of course, fans of other teams like Landshark and Cube) who come here and discuss and debate things. Now and then, sure, it sometimes gets a bit stupid on both sides, but those posters help make this place better. Even some of the less likeable guys from rivals are fine as they actually give you some insight on their teams.
What I don't get, is trolls that waste their time just to get a rise out of someone. Either they have absolutely nothing to do and lead incredibly boring lives, or they just really aren't normal, well-adjusted and good people.
However, please continue Amazing. You are making a few people here laugh

I will start going to Flames games when they have all you can drink or all you can eat nights with tickets. Some of the Southern teams get some sweet deals like that.

You would think Oilers fans have better things to worry about such as the imminent trade of 1st overall pick Yakupov for a bag of pucks

final thoughts on the game this morning:
- Jamie Benn is a superstar, and deserves a lot of attention
- Seguin is rounding out as was expected. This year it will be very very apparent that the oilers were dumb passing on him, and the bruins may have another thornton situation on their hands
- nasty stat out there that the flames haven't led a hockey game since Oct 26
- all that high octane play we say over the first few weeks of the season is gone. this team seems to be playing a very bad game, and mentally seem slow in every facet of the game
- i would like to see some line changes going forward that include moving backlund up, even if it is at wing, moving galiardi down in the lines, moving baertchi to a different scoring line, playing brodie/smid as the second pairing.
- when is gio back??

To 2nd Bubbsy's sentiment that new lines are needed, I'd like to see this lineup until Gio & Glencross are back
Cammalleri Backlund Hudler --> consistently our best 3 forwards
Baertschi Monahan Stempniak --> Stemper adds some defensive responsibility
Galiardi Stajan Jones --> Galiardi's speed compliments 2 slow skaters
Bouma Colborne McGrattan --> Colborne shouldn't be in the top 6; Bouma for Jackman
Smid Brodie --> Brodie needs a steady anchor (hint: not Butler)
Russell Wideman --> not pretty in the D zone but dangerous offensively
Butler SOB --> Ugh...
Berra --> couldn't be faulted for the 4 GA last night
