Most likely we aren't going to be playoff contenders next season, but hopefully there will be some improvement, and that improvement will come from newer, younger players, who are hopefully going to play like they want to be here and haven't checked out for the season.

Just be happy that this is a short season. I don't think I would be able to handle playing every game like that in a regular length season.
I was right there with you man, to see all those half cut Oilers fans turn around every 4-6 min screaming wildly and shaking their jersey crest in my face was something pretty unbearable. It's so hard to see some of the veterans efforts last night. The start of the third period all of the Oilers players came racing onto the ice doing laps while most of the Flames kind of "oozed" onto the ice looking so despondent.

It sucks for the fans, but it must be murder on the players that are left with the post mortem.

Thank god it's a shortened season, because this really feels like the absolute lowest point for the franchise.

As much as I like Seth Jones as a player and think he will be solid in this league, I really DON'T want to see us use our lottery pick on him if we land 1st.

I'm afraid that Feaster and Co. will take this final stretch and our thin defense very seriously and put too much emphasis on D going into the draft. YES, by all means, we should use one of our 1sts on a potential top d-man. But use one of the later ones. We must save that top 3 pick for that center talent up front. It only takes one glance at draft history to see that top 3 picks are best spent on those franchise forwards.

For that reason alone, I'd feel much safer if we ended up in 29th. With the STL or PIT pick we could grab guys like Nurse / Zadorov / Bowey / McCoshen if available, and that would still help the club greatly.

Maybe they should have worked more diligently and played with a little - OK, a lot - more urgency in the early part of the season then.

I'm not sure we saw anything last night we haven't seen before this season. A disinterested club with no "oomph" to work for pride alone. Licking their wounds like a hurt puppy.

I sure don't want to see that.
