Yet you draw the line somewhere. Everything has distant harms if you trace it back far enough.
You've just chosen to draw the line farther away than some of the other people in this thread.

A little late to the party...
I read the original post as essentially saying something like: "Reddit is a highly popular and profitable privately owned internet site If you use reddit please reconsider your support as it has a history of illegal and/or immoral activities. Continued use of reddit provides more revenue for this private company that has some ambiguous, at best, ethical standards..."
Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. As a matter of fact, I think it's positive that he brings it to our attention as I had no idea, nor did many others in this thread. I've only been on reddit once but couldn't really navigate it so I never went back. I don't think it's necessarily wrong for the OP to be pointing out the possible ethical deficiencies of any company (including Target, Chiquita, the Calgary Flames or the United Way) and then let us determine what, if anything, we're going to do about it.

I don't get why r/atheism is a default subreddit, to be honest most of the reason I made an account was to unsubscribe from the scientist circlejerk constantly going on. r/politics is a really bad democrat circlejerk. To be honest I only use reddit for funny pictures and the only place I have ever posted is in the fantasy football subreddit.

I just ate two bowls of pasta, and a banana. Probably more satisfied than anyone else in the thread. Oh yeah, and I won some money for being so smart. Suck it, reddit users.

You realize the internet itself can be defined the same way, right? So tell me, why do you still use the internet?
Or are you a hypocrite?

Peasant.
Did you masturbate furiously to overpriced pornography? That's probably the only good thing about a Holiday Inn Express. Rules-free zone.

You mentioned that you still occasionally use drugs.
How do you do that with full knowledge of the fact that organized crime profits from the illegal drug trade. Are you not aware of the atrocities committed by organized crime?
Violence, murder, prostitution, human trafficking, child prostitution... I could go on forever, but if there is money in it and it is illegal then I am sure you can find a link to organized crime.
