Maybe the players will care that MacDonald gets runover if he gets rid of his detroit skyline mask with the red wings paintjob?

Great win. We squeaked away with one there. If we continue to play like this though, sadly we will be close to the bottom of the standings. These type of wins reminds me of a couple years ago when we won 5 in a row with B.Sutter. Sloppy play always catches up with you.

Meanwhile Taylor and Irving have realised they lost the backup position to MacDonald when Kipper comes back. Irving signs elsewhere in the offseason. Thus continues the Flames goaltending saga.

Karri Ramo? Surely he has to be better than Irving and Taylor. Broissoit turns pro next season as well no? If anything, losing those two goaltenders will aleviate the drama/saga in the goaltending department.

How cool is it that we now have 4 wins from goalies not names Kiprusoff this year?

Regardless of how great Mac has been playing (and last game he was very very good too), the more this team musters up wins in the absence of Kipper, the more it speaks to how this team is progressing as a group aside from who's minding the net. And to team defense, especially. I think it was very important to get a W while limiting the opposition to 1 goal. It's a first this season remember. We need more of this, much more. Becasue it'll eventually go towards proving to the rest of the league too that Kipper isn't the biggest crutch for this team (which has been the assumption for 9 years now). That it can survive when his inevitable retirement will come around.

I have this theory that Kipper is traded at the deadline and Ramo and MacDonald share the goaltending duties next season

Not sure why but I would be ok with that.
....between Kipper or Iggy going....I'd keep the latter.

Glencross plays his best game when he plays a physical "3rd line" role. Grinding the boards, playing physical, garbage goals.

The problem is after he pots a few he starts thinking he is Sidney Crosby and starts playing like a first liner. He forgets what makes him successful.

First game of the year where the Flames won without scoring 4 goals.

First game in recent memory where the Flames didn't have to overcome their goalie letting in a bad goal. McDonald lets one slide through the 5 hole late in the second and this is a very different game.

Stajan, in his post game interview, mentions how nice it is that he was given a shot to succeed at last. Not very subtle.

Speaking of Stajan, two goals, including the game winner, was big, but maybe just as big was him going 60% in the faceoff circle, including 64% (7 of 11) in the defensive zone.

With Baertschi back, Flames have extra top 9 wingers, making that their only dealable asset. As much as I've liked Stempniak, it might be time to move him or Glencross as pieces of a trade to shore up the centre ice position. You're not going to win with only 1 true centre on your team.

While right you should know. Glencross has a special clause in his NMC.

Don't ask and you won't be disappointed clause.

I wonder if Stempniak and Babchuk could get an under achieving center and a 2/3 round pick?

Ottawa might do it for Regan.

Not quite sure what you mean, but nothing greases the hinges on a NMC like losing year after year.

Give a guy like Glencross a chance to go to a real contender and I think there's a decent chance he'd waive.

Possibly, but I don't see any contenders parting with the type of centerman we would need to receive in return.

Well he did choose Calgary and took a pay cut to sign here so I don't know if going to a contender would make him consider waiving since he could have made more as a UFA and went to a better team.

He loves Calgary.

Curious that Roman Cervenka was a healthy scratch tonight. Not really living up to expectations I guess. Too bad.
