Just beaten by a better team tonight. They out fought us and out battled us. You can see why they had the ingredients of a cup winning team. We had no answer to them tonight.
We need to stop this losing streak immediately and get back some momentum. Losing is contagious, and we need to snap out of it quickly.

Kipper is obvious. But Backlund was a big part of the forward momentum the team had.
|
yeah, but Kipper wasn't going to be some kind of magic bullet... he was playing pretty poorly if people recall, and was one the worst goalies in save percentage.
i don't think he would have made much of a difference

There's just not much to look forward to with this team. Even when Baertschi comes back he'll be stuck with scrubs on the fourth line.

No kidding! Diversity of opinion is what fosters good discussion. Without it what the hell would be the point? Nobody wants a giant circle jerk. At least I don't anyways.

Are you implying Mike Keenan was a good coach? Or just a benign entity behind the bench?

Put Taylor in from now on until Kipper is back. Call up Street, bench Comeau, demote Tanguay, aim for 15th, I will be happy...
PS: look at Iggy's options (if he does not waive or initiate, so be it), try to re-sign Kipper for 1 or 2-year deal. He deserves 5+ Million.
Take one step back for making two steps forward.

For sure. That was some high-def next-gen lack of goal scoring.
Losing with more pixels is easier to take.

Either him or Horak will probably have to get sent down.
hey! Why not both!

Rogers: Maybe this team just isn't good enough to be a playoff team. Not saying they can't improve. Look at LA and look at the Flames. The Flames are not nearly as good as the LA Kings, even if their records are similar. Maybe we just have to accept that this is where the Flames belong in the standings.
It's going to get ugly in Calgary as far as the media goes with no games until Saturday.

You can keep saying that but it still isn't true. He understood the deficiencies of the team and tried to get them to play a style that could keep them competitive and they were largely competitive for all three seasons being in the playoff race into the last month of every season. Despite some big free agent acquisitions the team is likely going to pick top 5. Yeah not many people are going to buy the 'bad coach' angle. Bad team? Maybe but not bad coach.

I have never in my life witnessed a team so inept at playing with the puck. Absolutely terrible tonight. They have been playing bad for a while now. All momentum they gained from Hartley's system is gone.
This teams weakness at center is being completely exposed. It's hard to be a puck possession team when you start every shift trying to get the puck back, and frankly this team doesn't look interested in doing the little things to get the puck back. God forbid they do have the puck. I can not believe how many of this teams passes get intercepted, and it feels like the passes that don't the players just can't handle and cough the puck up anyway.
I wonder if some how we can blame this all on Brent Sutter. He was such an easy scapegoat.

I defend those who unfairly receive criticism.
MacKinnon hasn't played in the NHL either, but people wouldn't mind tanking for him.

I just don't get why he is still on the team and praised for his hard work. It's like he's dating Hartley's daughter or has incriminating photos of Hartley.

Actually they should put in net. They should put him in a net at the bottom of the ocean!
No that's not very nice of me And I'm not being very intellectually honest because I would never condone drowning someone over their poor performance as a hockey player. Stores sell seppuku swords for that very purpose I think doing the honorable thing should be a player's responsibility.

Reality is we are probably a much better team on paper than at any time during B Sutter's tenure. We are still terrible on paper to be clear. Still think the issue leadership. Starts with Jerry Jones, errrr, ummm Murray Edwards and Ken King. Ends with Iggy. Collectively they set the tone for the whole organization. As long as they run the show it will be more of same.

We got beat by a team that wanted more than we did. There is too much of a losing attitude in our dressing room. We need to bring in players that know how to win and are willing to put forth that effort each and everynight. Get rid of the Cancer and start new

Rogers is honest...he knows the team sucks, he also calls out Iggy for only playing a good game here and there when everyone else is giving him credit for finally playing half decent. Rest of the season is meaningless...season is over before it even began

out with the old, in with the new. lets start fresh please Flames. this has to end. Same old song and dance every season, couple new faces, new coach after 2-3 years, but the same old core not getting it done.
ugh. just so frustrating to watch
