I was just in New York City . . . These nuts were all over Columbus Circle. Most of them were missing a few teeth and lacking the brain power to finish high school.
I remember taking a course on end of the world prophesies in religious studies and one of the things that was brought up was that it the human mind (or ego, I suppose, however you want to define it) has such a feeling or permanence that it is actually easier for it to believe that the world will end before it does. Even if the logical brain knows this can't be true. That's why so many people can get sucked up into it, and have been since the beginning of recorded history.
The same sort of feeling occurs in beliefs of afterlife. The impossibility to imagine existence without us being there.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw that says "Come the rapture so we can have the earth to ourselves"
I laughed...although with the pentagram beside it I can definitely see how some might find that across the line of good taste.
Apparently these guys rely upon listener donations and do pretty good at it because their net assets are in excess of $122million. Quite the scam they have going. How much do you want to bet the leaders disappear into some sort of underground bunker next Saturday just to keep the scam going?
Isn't this all religions?
I can't believe "god" couldn't do this in the middle of the week. Nothing worse than working all week towards a long weekend just to have it interrupted by the world coming to an end.
