Combination of a shakeup of the forward core, and bringing in a couple of players I like IRL. The defense has been carrying the team, so time to change a bit of chemistry.

In our first deal with the new Caps GM, we've traded Cody Eakin to Washington in exchange for Alexander Yelesin.

Lazar + Golyshev --> 4th (WAS) 22'
I needed to clear up my AHL space and was running out of cap space to make this work.
Thanks BagoPucks...not the fanciest deal in the world but appreciate you doing this.

Minor Trade Review
Marcus Johansson (formerly NY Isle) 7 points in 11 games
Nino Neidereitter (formerly LA Kings) 7 points in 11 games
most effective trade by a mile since I became a GM.
Sorry for the tangent, I was seeing if Rask had made it into some games, but it looks like he was the casualty of the Great Cap Adventure the Isle had this season.
Edit : also Lars Eller (formerly NY Isle) 9 point in 11 games
Carl Soderberg (formerly LA King, now a Sabre) 12 points in 11 games
Rask is going to light it up. So is future considerations.

To Calgary:
Tristan Jarry
Patrick Maroon
Austin Watson
To Toronto:
Sergei Bobrovsky
Johan Larsson
Riley Sheahan
Artem Zub
Theodore Niederbach
We were thrilled to sign Bobs as a UFA but he just has not performed to the level expected. Jarry has also been very poor in the sim so hopefully this shakeup can get both goalies going. We had to add some youth to make up for the age difference but believe Jarry can provide some consistent goaltending for the organization.

Citing a lacklustre performance, and a dumb name, the Toronto Maple Leafs parted ways with the man they once considered their goalie of the future - Patrick Maroon.
Upon realizing the poor fit, the club turned to Tristan Jarry between the pipes, but he also faltered in the starting role. Thus they, and Austin Watson, were shipped to Calgary for a package of players including an experienced starter in Sergei Bobrovsky, fourth-line wunderkinds Johan Larsson and Riley Sheahan, as well as the Gretzky of Niederbachs - Theodore.
The Leafs also acquired Artem Zub as part of the deal, because how could we not?
Thanks to the Flames organization for a tidy 48-hour negotiation that included extensively creative name-calling and multiple threats of bodily harm.
Zub-a-dub-dub!

The Sharks stink.
In a desperate move to try and save the season before it has really had a chance to get going, the Sharks went out and re-acquired a player they recently traded after he started ripping up the league.
Steven Stamkos and his 10G 11A 21P will immediately step onto the teams top line to play with Daddy Mac.
I am pretty sure most of our issues here come from Daddy mac but we refuse to go down that path; he could be a Shark for life (or at least another 10 games if we continue to suck).
We think we paid a heavy price for Stamkos and his points but we are willing to try anything right now. At this point I may even bring in James Neal.
To San Jose:
Steven Stamkos
Mark Jankowski
To Nashville:
Vlad Tarasnko
2021 1st (owed)
Nashville GM is a brave man to trade someone as red hot as Stamkos and has proven he's not afraid to pull the trigger on any trade. We think he did good here on the return.
Sharks now need a D

Definitely a tough call on trading Stamkos, but we couldn't look past our pending UFA group. Adding Tarasenko on a very cap friendly 3 year deal was key and we fully expect him to jump up in ratings again. Adding a 1st round pick sealed the deal. Thanks to MJK for the trade talks and good luck with the season.

Thanks to Dave for the deal.

The bum carousel continues in San Jose.
Couldn't get Marchessault going and don't want to pay a guy $6.5mill to play on our 3rd line. This deal gets us a D back which we desperately needed.
Thanks Scorpy

Not exactly a fancy deal. We are betting that Brett Leason is better than he was last season and show NHL potential. He is young and has size so hope he can figure it out. We had to find a deal where we didnt move any move cap out as we are out cheese so deal is ok and it works for us.

St Louis trades Greg Pateryn their 3rd in 2022 and 2 million in cap space to Washington for Brett Kulak.
Why? Because I can. Because, I don't want to spend nearly 5 million dollars on a 7th defenseman, so I gain about 2 in cap space. Brett is younger and a RFA and pretty functional as a 7th.

Capitals have traded Mark Pysyk to SJ for Rocco Grimaldi cap evened out.
Pysyk was wasting away on our roster. Grimaldi is signed for next year for 1 M makes him a decent depth player if he stays healthy. Pysyk was a UFA and was going to walk so this is a move for next year as much as it is for this year.

Vancouver trades
Pittsburgh for
Yamo was just not doing anything for the Pens. It was time to remove the Oilers stench from the roster. We like Kuraly primarily for his faceoff prowess which we sorely need.

Oof. I've been trying to get Yamamoto. The NJ GM told me to get lost so many times that I guess I forgot about him. Didn't notice that he went to Pittsburgh.
Dang.
