I don't know, being on more ignore lists then anyone else while not managing to get banned would be a pretty big intrawebs accomplishment IMO...

Ya because I never contribute. I think most that get me just ignore my obvious attempts at stirring up (trust me I would rather be on the golf course but it is frackin' cold outside) but accept it for the other things I bring to this site. If you are not one of the people that gets it, well, personally I don't care.
You act like I'm the only person in the thread going over the same thing over and over. The pro-vaccine crowd is doing it just as much as the anti-vaccine crowd.

I feel bad for you because you must work with the sickest people on earth.
Outside of stories on CP, I haven't heard of one story of anyone I know or that they know getting H1N1.
Not a single, friend, family member, co-worker, client, schoolmate, friend of my wife, or co-worker of my wife has a story of someone getting H1N1.
And you apparently have multiple co-workers who have had it?
Remind me to avoid working for the government in Ottawa.

Well, most disturbing was that it knocked out the workaholics. One person that HAD NOT TAKEN A SICK DAY IN TEN YEARS was out a week with H1N1. The odd thing is that the guy that I *KNOW* is calling in periodically with "mental health days" was the *only* guy that was fine through the whole month when my team had it. I myself had 3 sick days in the last 10 years (all getting my tonsils out) and H1N1 forced me out for a day.
As for nobody you know having it, PHAC does have that Eastern Ontario was harder hit than Alberta... or maybe you were just lucky.
But maybe that is where I am confused by people not wanting the vaccine. When I had two friends end up in emergency (one had to go three times due to breathing problems), plus so many other friends, co-workers and family that had this miserable flu for a week+ it just seems like a no-brainer. But if nobody that you know has had the thing, of course the perception of risk is going to be lower.

No, the actual risk is lower not the perception of risk. If you're at a workplace that has a high incidence of H1N1, the actual risk is higher (not perceived to be higher.)

I guess it's just who your friends happen to be... haha
My roommate was in the hospital for 2 weeks on the ventilator. I have never driven so fast anywhere before in the crappy weather we do because he couldn't breathe in the middle of the night from the flu.
My ex-girlfriend had it and was out for 5 days. She normally doesn't get sick but this one hit her insanely bad.
Other friend had it really bad, an extremely high fever she had to be put into the hospital or something along those lines.

Finally got both my H1N1 and seasonal flu shot today - my work was able to bring it in, which was nice. I've already lived through my husband getting what was likely H1N1 about a month ago, but I thought I'd rather not risk it and so got the shot. I think my arm will be sore tomorrow - reminds me of the tetnus shot I had a few years ago.

Interesting re-cap of the flu season so far at Science-Based Medicine: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?p=3029
The article focuses on US data, but a lot of it is relevant to Canada. Some of the key points were:
- Overall the death rate from H1N1 isn't very high; however, it has killed more children than the past 2 flu seasons combined (and we're really still just at the beginning of the normal flu season).
- The reported incidences of deaths and serious adverse effects (including GBS) within 19 days of vaccination were consistent with background population rates, meaning no evidence of the vaccine causing serious adverse effects. The monitoring systems have some definite limitations, and there's no mention of allergic reactions, but the data still support the vaccine being very safe. Some of the 13 reported deaths are clearly not related to the vaccine; others are still under investigation. One person did die in a car accident on the way home from the clinic though.
- We still pretty much have no clue what's going to happen for the rest of the flu season - if there will be a 3rd wave of H1N1 (most historical pandemic flus have had 3 waves), and if other flu viruses will start to appear or it will continue to just be H1N1.

You are quite lucky, each of my kids have a classmate who has/had H1N1.
On my Kids Hockey team two of the parents have had H1N1, one of my co-workers had H1N1.
My kid went to a birthday party a month ago, the next day we received a call informing everyone there, that one of the Kids later that night was confirmed having H1N1.
The parent was told to call everyone and tell them to watch for symptoms in the next 48 hours. Luckly my kid never came down with it.

CALGARY - A male Calgary youth who was otherwise healthy has died after contracting H1N1, bringing the total number of fatalities related to the new flu strain to 65 in the province, according to local health officials.

And healthy people can die at any time from any number of things, but I'm not going to worry about it. As has been said, flu kills loads of people all the time and nothing gets reported as the numbers - like with H1N1 - are pretty inconsequential in the greater scheme of things. Someone else just died while I was writing this. That's life...or death even. Enjoy it while you can.

Unless you were staying home to help someone out who DID have it, I doubt it was H1N1 that made you sick for a day

I didn't say that. I said that it forced me out of work for one day. There are these things called "weekends" which many people, including myself, have off work. It hit like a tonne of bricks on a Friday morning so I went home at noon, but then by Sunday night I was here asking how one was supposed to know if they were safe enough to go back to work. So all I missed was a half day. And a wasted weekend.
I probably should have stayed home on the Monday, but with most everyone else out sick, SOMEONE had to cover. And my thought process was "who cares if I'm contagious... who am I going to give it to? Everyone else already has it."
