The Giants will battle Washington for third place and will probably lose. They are a bad team.

There is always a team that comes from nowhere. Everyone always picks the 8 division winners from last year, and generally are about right only 3 or 4 times.
Actually there is a good theme. Who are the 8 winners:
NE
PITT
IND
SD
STL
CAR
NYG
CHI

Well the Giants aren't exactly "coming from nowhere" as they were a WC team last year. They just have way too many holes on defense that have been accentuated by injuries in preseason. The O-line is still brutal and Eli will continue to struggle behind it. On defense, the D-line is the only strong point, the LBs are average at best, and the secondary is brutal.
Overall, New York was the one team in the NFC East that did absolutely nothing to improve its weakspots in the offseason.

I agree with some of this and hence how they will come from nowhere.
The giants are not great, but Philly is aging and their QB is made of glass, Washington is mismanaged beyond belief and Dallas is a bit of a wildcard. People now have film on Romo, I don't see him leading a team to a division championship anytime soon.

Enough judging me, let's see your 8, and anyone else's. Would be interesting to see how others think 07 will play out.

I think it could easily be Philly, Dallas or NYG. Each has such big questions at the QB position. I gave it to Philly because they have by far the best coach but if McNabb goes down I they are done and even if he is healthy I am not sure they are better than the other two.

I think the Colts will have a tough time making the playoffs. Seems alot of teams have a tough time at making the playoffs recently after they win the Super Bowl the previous season.

Chiefs name Huard as their starting QB. Probably the right thing to do as Croyle is struggling too much in the preseason and the O-Line and running game is a bit AWOL. Huard although a backup is pretty experienced and has been effective when called on. Probably the better guy to steer the ship in hopes that the rest of the unit will come together a bit. The Chiefs are going to need their defence to keep them in games and make plays and hope Huard can run an oppurtunistic mistake free offence. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs try Croyle later in the season if they have a slow start record wise. IMO Croyle is still their guy for the future, but if they want to try and win now Huard is the guy to start off with.

Not that the preseason is interesting, but starting in week 3 games start to become a little more useful as starters play further into the game, the teams to me that made statements are:
New Orleans
Houston
Seattle
New England
KC (be it a bad statement)
speaking of KC they just released that Huard will be their starting QB in week 1. Croyle has a first rounder wife, but a 3rd rounder arm and 5th rounder decision making skills at this point.

Unless DFF can straighten the record about Al Wilson. I think they are both great football players, but that just seems like such a lateral move for the team.
Wonder where Trotter will sign now?

I don't know what's up with Al. I keep expecting to see the Broncos sign him for the league minimum because he hasn't signed anywhere else.
He doesn't have back problems...he had a neck injury..and I'm not sure he's cleared to play either.
I love that guy. One of the greatest leaders the Broncos have ever had and a fantastic linebacker to boot.

Agreed, Al Wilson has been my favorite definsive player in the last 10 years.
I still remember him stuffing that Oakland back (was it Ritchie?) in mid air on 4th and 1 on Sunday night football. And remember he was a huge leader back to his UT days.
I suspect that at some point you have enough money and enough hits and injuries that you just say screw it, I'm watching TV on Sundays instead. The NFL is such a grind both physically and mentally ... that and having the begeezus scared out of you right after a neck injury might be enough to just pack it in.

Agreed, but I don't think that's the case with Al. Last I had heard he and his agent were actively shopping his services around the league. That could've changed though.

The only reason I say 11-5 is factoring the injuries in. If McNabb plays 16 games I honestly think they can win 12-13 games. And with him missing a few games, like you said, Feely is a capable backup in the Eagles offense. Their offensive line, combined with arguably the most versatile back in the league in Westbrook, is enough to keep them competitive on the offensive side of the ball without a full season of McNabb. I'll be interested to see what the LB core looks like this year. Spikes is a big addition, and now with Gaither starting at MLB it gives them a entirely new look. The secondary of the Eagles is their strength, and even with an aging Dawkins they are probably one of the best in the NFL.
Bunkley having a good first full season as starting DT will be a big thing to watch for me. If he can shore up the middle of that D-line, an area where the Eagles have traditionally struggled, then their defense will be that much better. I really like the defensive end depth with Kearse healthy again, and Trent Cole ready to become an impact defender.
While age an injuries will be factors on both sides of the ball, I surely think that it's the Eagles division to lose. I agree the Giants have regressed if anything this offseason, and in Dallas with Roma having a full year to run the Cowboys offense......will probably be the Eagles' closest competition.
