GioforPM simply disagrees with your point, and I think he's got the better argument.
Schwindt has actually played more NHL games than Hunt since that season - so I think it's arguable the Flames were wrong and that Schwindt was the better player with more upside and should have given him more looks before he required waivers.

Cracking the Panthers and Knights roster should be a lot harder than cracking our teams roster too.

That was my direct quote. At no point did I say Hunt prevented them from getting NHL games.

“*more* development time could have benefitted the prospects you mentioned earlier”

Another quote from me acknowledging that, yes, the prospects did receive some development time but ***more*** would have been preferred.
The ones who would benefit from NHL time got more NHL time than HUnt. The ones who would benefit from more AHL time got that.

One could also argue that at 23 and slightly cheaper than Hunt last season, a team that was cap-strapped looked for cheap depth that could possible show they have something left to prove.

Here he is now, waived and claimed by another team that has to be careful with cap. I think the benefit with Schwindt is he's younger, but his NHL appearances thus far show him to be very similar to.... Dryden Hunt.

You said they didn't get more games because Hunt was in the way. That's what ‘impeded’ means. I grant that it was GioforPM's choice of words and not yours.

But they didn't ‘waste a slot on Hunt’. He was up part-time as a replacement player in a year where they were shovelling veteran forwards out the door.

All right, everybody understands your point. Not everybody agrees with it. You don't seem to believe that's possible, but that's on you.

Since that season? You mean last year? Maybe he played less because since that season the Flames called up Kerins and Honzek to play just as many games as him, and called Klapka to play a lot more. You know, playing the younger guys.
