I am not sure I can even accept the "Second chance" perspective.
The sexual assault happened in 2010. Bowman went on to be the GM for 11 years after that. Won 3 cups. Went to the Olympics as GM of the USA Men's Hockey team. The guy flourished for over a decade knowing that he had destroyed the life of a young man, offered a glowing endorsement of the abuser who went on to assault a 16 year old boy in Michigan. Bowman had chance after chance after chance to come clean about this. Doing the right thing was an option for a very long time. He didn't go to jail. He just lost his job. Plenty of NHL GMs lose their job who did not bury a sexual assault allegation who never got a "second chance". The guy takes a sensitivity training course and he is all good? He should be no where near a hockey rink.

Except it's not nothing.
Bowman is the guy that probably should be punished the most for his involvement with the Beach abuse.
He was the GM. He was the one that was in direct control of Brad Aldrich's employment. And he was the one that owed it to Beach to ensure Aldrich was held accountable.
Instead he did nothing and then actually gave a recommnedation for Aldrich to go get another job coaching college and high school athletes.
Bowman should never work in the NHL again...but instead the Oilers give him a job within a couple weeks of being reinstated.

He's not. He's average.
He had success in Chicago but he was gifted a franchise on the upswing after a rebuild after Tallon did the bulk of the painful part of the work. He's nothing special.

If Stang is renouncing his oilers fandom I’m even ok with him picking a neutral team if he won’t cheer for the flames. If the flames ever did enough to make me renounce them I couldn’t cheer for the oilers. Stang how about the Sens? Gotta think that’s a pretty neutral choice

McDavid just needs to get him to ask to see the pictures on his phone, so they can fire him immediately like Babcock in Columbus.

Echoing this. You can just migrate your fandom to our team; hell, you spend a good amount of time on here anyway...

Its truly remarkable.
When a name like Bowman, Perry, Kane becomes available we all make jokes like "Oilers have entered the chat" or "Step right up Edmonton Oilers".
Yet time after time it actually becomes reality. Its not a joke anymore. The Oilers are the only joke remaining

This. Bowman has two degrees from Notre Dame, he can use those and his experience elsewhere to do something else. Anyone getting upset at "blame culture"(gross) has lost the plot. He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a hockey rink. Sorry buddy, piss off

No doubt in my mind that the Oilers would sign Carter Hart as a goalie right now if the league allowed them to.
