More likely because they’ve got Toronto easterners watching at the network who won’t put up with those parlour tricks they pull on regional broadcasts.

I mean.... Its not like there wasnt huge warning signs on Nurse. I mean this thread just for being bumped was people in disbelief the underlying numbers dont paid him as a #1D
I was Nurses biggest supporter early on when he was getting crapped on as a rookie/sophmore. But the perception on Nurse flipped 180 and turned into him being hyped (and paid) as a #1D. Many of the underlying numbers painted him as having some big issues, but getting extreme luck in the goal-scoring area last year. Pretty much only due to the outstanding puck luck that led to a ton of goals going in for Nurse, he was ordained as the saviour on D (by fans and management). That puck luck almost always regresses, and has for Nurse thus far.
So he got paid as a #1 D, and it also led to Nurse trying to play the game as some offensive dynamo D and taking way to many shots per game.
I still like Nurse, but hes a solid #3D, or could maybe fill in on top pairing if he has a #1D partner. Hes overpayed though, and also overplayed.
This is going to be one of the worst contracts in the league.
it’s already looking awful.
Who would have thought objective stats actually mean something.
The Oilers are the proud owners of 3 of the worst defensive players in the game. All 3 were also acquired or resigned this offseason- even with this publicly available data
He should just tattoo an anchor down the side of his neck so every time he’s in the mirror he knows what he is to this team.
